Fender Tony Franklin Precision Bass

Музыка

A quick review of these wonderful signature basses from Fender.
I forgot to mention in the video that the nut is B width (1.625" or just under 42mm) so really easy to play.

Thanks for the video. Tony Franklin basses are so amazing and completely underrated. I own the fretless and it's a gem, but now you've got me wanting the fretted as well.

That amber bass is really nice looking with the fretless came in that color.

I had to post this-I own a 2016 just like this one. people need to realize how incredible these basses are. I have owned two Pedulla Buzzes and thought nothing would compare...I was wrong. my TF is dialled in and it is equal to them in every way which is saying something.mine has mwah for days and is super clear and bright and aggressive. its over the top.they are worth every penny.

Sounds great in bridge mode. I don't understand why a blend knob wouldn't be better tho. More flexibility to get just the right amount of front mixed with back pickup. I also think Round wound strings are the way to go sound wise. Whether they eat fretboard or not. Ha But to each, their own. That's a nice bass and great demo ! Cheers !

Despite the unorthodoxy of it, if I were going to get a Tony Franklin signature model, my weapon of choice would be in the finish of that fretted version but with a fretless maple fingerboard. It would be reminiscent of a model that I’ve seen pictures of Sting playing.

I swapped the necks over at one point to do just that! I think Sting’s was a maple board though?

Mr. Walbassist - I have a question or two for you...............1: Are you recording this video thru a digital audio interface - or are you playing thru an amp and using an external mic to get this done? 2: Are all your bass control settings full-on, or do you have a mixture there? Thanks much, man! I LOVED this demo - very helpful!

Bassistdan1 It was recorded using a Tonehammer amp into a Bergantino 2x10 and recorded by a Zoom video cam. Volume and tone are wide open.

Well, so far never played bolt on bass without a dead/s spots. Sometimes they are not as strong but always present IMO. And I have played USA, Mexican Fenders, Squiers, Mayones, Japanese LTD, GMRs and few more - all of them had dead spots...

Ok, that makes a lot more sense! I'm still baffled at how good this bass sounds. Currently re-wiring my PJ to Tony Franklin wiring, one of the only ways to retain the classic P tone without the added resistance of second volume pot.
