Thanks Man! I have a 1973 (or 1974) Twin. Had it since 1981 or 1982. I´ve always loved the sound of it and I´ll never sell it. Tonight... The tone knobs are also volume knobs!!! You What!!?? What a revelation! Never knew that! I always have set the channel volume to get the dirt I want, and thereafter adjusted the master volume to the desired output dB. Then adjusted treble, mids and bass. Turning the tone knobs to zero and then setting channel volume (dirt) level, and then cranking the master and finally adding on the "volume" from the tone knobs... Just saw my old Fender in a totally new light! In just five minutes I´ve discovered several sounds I didn´t even realise were in my Twin. Thanks!!!

BTW: You can run the output from the REVERB TANK into the NORMAL channel (using the appropriate cabling), roll off all the bass, boost the treble, and you will get a crystalline, wonderful reverb sound, with the NORMAL channel volume, becoming your reverb volume.

Budda Guedes haha thanks a lot I guess! With your method of testing and setting up the tone controls just above their „working spot“ I was finally able to get the best tone out of my 93 Blues DeVille! Still I’m looking for a black or silverface twin or something similar, to get a more funky tone. I did not have the super reverb on my radar but now I looked into them and found a guy about two hours away who is interested in trading his 70s silverface (with master and mid controls, just like yours) for my Blues DeVille. But he wants my TAD Attenuator, too. Otherwise he would not accept the trade.. So I need to find out if it’s possible to play the Super Reverb in my living room without the attenuator.. Is it possible to dial down the master volume to bedroom levels without destroying the amps sound?

Love your demo of this great amp! I love my Super Reverb! This is a good explanation of the types of sounds you can get from this amp. I like to plug into the first (non reverb) input and overdrive that by turning it up pretty much all the way, although it is too loud to be near! The tones I can get are amazing. With a Ratt or even better yet, a Super Overdrive, are so amazing. And of course, it has all the clean headroom I can want. The only drawback is that it is such a heavy, hard to carry amp. And I bought mine from a guy who took very good care of it, and made a cover for it, etc, I didn't want to mod it by putting casters on it. So I don't gig with that amp but try to play it periodically. I think mine is a 1971?

Everyone hates on the ultralinear amps, but I have one and a 1964 fender princeton in my toy room (ToneHinge), and the SR gets way more play. I put a pair of THD Yellowjackets in mine, and it took a couple dB off the volume and gave it a hair more brightness and crispness but retained the fender tone characteristics very nicely. Very awesome sounding amp that can be had for cheap. The myth about blackface ones being bounds and leaps better is total bs. I had this same amp as a teenager. My grandpa dug it out of his basement after it sat for 20 years. I didn't appreciate it st the time, mostly because I was young dumb kid, and therr were a lot of knobs. I cranked everything and put pedals in front of it so it sounded horrible thst way lol. Anyway, it got stolen and after hearing this video, I wish I still had it! That's the problem with an amp on wheels.... Easy to steal I guess lol.

It has a master volume, so it can break up at whatever volume you want. The question is how good does it sound broken up with the master low, as opposed to with the master on 10 like a non-master volume Super.

@@BuddaGuedes ehmmm i'm sorry but i do not agree, even your fender have it, it doesn't matter to me until it disappear when you play but all the super reverb i tried had that hummmmm (it's a tension noise) going on even when playing softly. Anyway it's really a wonderful amp and probably i should just find a head at at good price and if it hum bring it to a tech. By the way, nice playing mate!

Great Demo!!! Listen anyone know if these are still point to point wiring in 1979? I believe they made changes to the circuit & switched to a SS rectifier later in the 70's curious if they started using Printed Circuit boards at all before discontinuing the model in 1981?

@@justinlangley9529 The twin is a lot cleaner and louder. Although this super reverb is said to be 85 watts of power it only has 2 6L6 Power tubes, what means it's probably just a branding thing. The Super Reverb compresses and is a lot easier to get a greta tone than the super, unless you want clean power and use pedals with the Twin. With that said the Twin Reverb is an incredible amp, and it was my main amp for more than 10 years.
