Billy Sheehan, Steven Harris then James Jamerson. Used to only play jazz basses then switched and started to really love and appreciate precision basses. Billy Sheehan and the crazy sounds he got out of that bass was the big moment that made me take notice of them. Nowadays I love and appreciate the simple one pickup, one volume, one tone setup. It's like a telecaster it's a blank slate you get out of a p bass what you put in

John Entwistle The Who Live at Leads. Was my initial inspiration. Bruce Foxton - The Jam. Once he moved from the Ricky’s. JJ Burnel- The Stranglers Roger Waters - Pink Floyd James Jamerson- Motown Steve Harris - Iron Maiden Duck Dunn - Stax (and the Blues Brothers) For me it seems all my favourite bass players use the Pbass. If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me. Plugged into an Ashdown ABM and you have (IMHO) the perfect tone.

I had one in the early 1970s. I think that there was a single coil pick up vs. split coil pickup and the fact that the Telecaster Bass was built like a tank gave it a sound that set it apart from other P-Basses. Wanting a faster playing instrument, I sold it sadly. That one piece maple neck was a beast to play. I remember that they also came out in paisley (so groovy).

He is a good player indeed but his phrasing and accenting on these particular lines was off. Not all of them though. So if he fixes this he immediately sounds great instead of good. No big deal.
