I am 70 years old and have but few heroes. My dad being one of them, I now find myself adding one more and that is Mr. FT you are such a hands-on type of guy and farm like my grandfather did. If it is broken, fix it with what resources, you have available. I wish there was something I could do for you. I would like to see more of the misses and the kids. I would be proud to say that you were my son. I wish you and the family only the best stay safe and keep farming. one more thing I am sure that your grandfather is watching over you with a big smile and can hear him say that's my grandson!

Exactly! I’m 64, my dad would be 103 if he was still alive. He could only ever afford a few cattle at a time and made his living in a welding and repair shop. He was a lot like you, Tyler, and he would have loved watching your channel. He taught me all he knew like which side of the post the wire goes on and why. Stuff I consider common sense and most people have no idea.

Cattle brushes are the #1 saver of farm infrastructure! Most things that get broken seem to come from animals scratching themselves on them. You can go simple with post mounted ones, in ground mounts, all the way up to the powered ones used in bigger dairies. Whatever the type, cow's will line up for their turn to rub away mud, manure and itchy fly bites.

I had a friend who was a mechanic for the city decades ago and I could get these sweeper brushes for free. I would get 3 of them a couple times a year. I started doing exactly this with them. Cows use them, but horses LOVE them which is great because a cow will scratch on a fence but a horse will *lean* on fences causing them to fall over. Even goats will scratch on them. BTW, the different colors represent different coarseness of the bristles and they last years

If you use sand instead your post won 't rot. And will hold up like concrete. Construction co 20 years then engineering. My dad put sand on some of his post and concrete on the rest. After 30 years the post in sand are still strong. We had to replace poles with concrete water sets and rots the post in time. Just a thought for you to give it a try if you want. Just food for thought.
