Femke Bol is Better than Sydney McLaughlin | The Olympics 2024 Prediction

With the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris just a few months away, the anticipation for an epic showdown over the women’s 400-meter and 400-meter hurdles is at the top of the roof. The track community is already prepared to watch what appears to be the biggest clash in the world of track field. And that clash guys is between the Dutch sensation, Femke Bol and America’s renowned queen of hurdles Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. Of course, if you’ve been following track and field events lately, you already know these two seem to be equal contenders over the 400-meter and 400-meter hurdles. They’ve both been dropping down impressive performance, and it’s almost impossible to tell who among them stands strong. But guys, Femke Bol has just sent a strong message to McLaughlin-Levrone, proving that she is not the kind to be taken for granted.

    As a Dutchman and as a supporter of Femke Bol I really don't like this kind of video. Femke Bol had a great season in 2023, and also the first months of 2024 and it is clearly Bol who has the momentum right now, and it is up to McLaughlin to show where she stands after 1.5 year of absence. But ms Bol is also a very humble and down to earth person, and she has great respect (!) for Sydney McLaughlin, as she has said several times. This kind of pumped up video with Swolen AI voice is completely NOT her style.

    For those who go on about their ages. Much more relevant is their years of experience. Bol started only in 2019 on the hurdles. So in at the Olympic Games in 2021 Bol had only 2 (!) years of experience, versus McLaughlin who went already went to the OG in Rio in 2016, so she had at least 6 or 7 years of experience (because that means that she must have started at least in 2014 or 2015). Still, with her 2 years of experience Bol got Bronze in Tokio. That is WILD.. And in 2023, only 4 years after having started on the hurdles, and a few months after making the switch to a 14 step stride, Bol already ran a 51.45 in London, the 3d fastest time ever, which would have given her Gold at the OG in Tokio.

What many people dont realize is that Femke started only in 2019 on the Hurdles, so she had only 2 (!!) years of experience when they ran in the Olympic games in Tokyo and Femke got Bronze..., and only 3 years when they met in the the World Championships in Eugene. While Sydney McLaughlin by then already had 7 years of experience or so (see went to the Olympics in Rio...). So it is no wonder that Sydney was faster in those meets. However, it is worth noting that Femke got a time of 51.45 that would have gotten Gold in Tokio in july 2023, when she still had only 4 years of experience and had only just switched to the 14 step stride a few months before. So we can say that Femke develops very fast over the last few years. The same goes for the 400 flat where Femke ran 3 WR's in the space of a year. McLaughlin on the other hand has delivered hardly any performance over the last 1.5 year... And nobody seems to know what her status is, or what her plans are. HOWEVER. Sydney McLaughlin is still the holder of that great WR on the hurdles! So for the moment I would say that the situation is unclear... I hope the Olympics in Paris will bring more clarity in the situation.

    Yeah, I am glad that your favorite is Femke Bol and that is your prorogative but I am an American and I only cheered and routed for my own country USA that my favorite team is USA; I am their fan; and that is the difference between me and you!!! Both Bol and her partner are impressive and are a treat to everyone in the 400m dash and the 400m hurdle, but there are others too that are just as impressive if they qualify to compete, and everyone wants to win - everybody - but it's just one winner and whoever crosses over the finished line is the winner of the 400m dash and the 400m hurdle! Both Bol and her partner have an international coach, I believe from a French speaking country and challenges his athletes and getting them prepared for the Olympics if they have punched their tickets to Paris; and Yeah, her accomplishments are impressive and again she is the favorite to win this year, but she would be challenged also by her contenders because the World is coming to the Olympics: she would have the best of the best in all countries, including the AMERICANS so she would have to prove that she is the best of the best!! But I am still BIASED, I am cheering and routing for the AMERICANS!!! Thanks for sharing though!!!!

However a statement like "Femke is better" or "Sydney is better" has no substance, because it involves making judgements on the basis of criteria... Sydney was injured and would be coming off that injury: so that was a setback and health challenges; Femke Bol said that she was very tired so that is fatigue physically but it's still easy in the season of Track and Field so I have no clue...oh, by the way, Sydney ran the 4×100m dash recently with Pardini, Harrison, and Adiunon ( I know that I misspelled their names), and they were called the Formula Kersee: score was together 12.93 and medalled for second 🥈 place: the International team rewarded the 🥇 gold medal with a time together of 12.03. ( that team was Dina Asher Smith, Ireland sprinter, Jamaican sprinter, and Julien Alfred: 3 were trained in the universities here in the United States and gone pro, except for Dina Asher Smith, but are trained in the United States of America too under an American/ international coach), coaching is very important and a runner's support team so let the GAMES begin!!!

    hi warren from Australia there's one thing where I think femke can get a advantage over Sydney when she finishes her races she's all smiles and happy and laughing and putting her arms out where Sydney sits down on the track. Looks like she's stressing out severely instead of being happy. That's one thing where I think Femke will get over Sydney.

    @@xavierbrown7335 Femke Bol ran 51.45 in London in 2023, only 4(!) years after starting on the hurdles. It took McLaughlin 7 years to produce the 51.46 in Tokio. And mrs McLaughlin has never even come close to her own WR. Her 2nd best time is 51.41. Which is 0.73 seconds above her own WR...

    Bro, your knee jerk reflexes are becoming tiresome. They only ran against each other when Bol had only just started on the hurdles, and that "last meeting" of yours is now 1.5 years ago. Since then Bol has greatly improved and McLaughlin is not doing anything. So, indeed we will see in Paris (I hope). But I must admit that these fan video's are also very cringe.

    @@rientsdijkstra4266 False! Bol ran against Sydney 2 years in a row and the distance was greater the second time! They are the same age, so when Femkeol progresses so does Sydney. You don't know enough to understand that?

  • @rientsdijkstra4266

    @rientsdijkstra4266

    @@virgilius7036 The FACTS are very simple: Bol started on the hurdles in 2019, so she had only 2 years in 2021 of experience (practically a novice) when she got Bronze in Tokio, which is WILD, and 3 years in 2022. That can not be false, simply because it is a hard mathematical fact! And if the distance was greater in 2022, that can easily have been the result of mrs McLaughlin running a once in a lifetime race... In other words that 50.68 at the WC in 2022 explains why the distance was bigger in 2022. However, that 50.68 was a one-off for mrs McLaughlin to (her seconds best time is 51.41). Still only one year later in 2023 with still only 4 years of experience, and only 5 or 6 months after switch to the 14 step stride (= hard, because you need to jump with both legs as leading leg) Bol ran a 51.45 in London, wich is the 3d time EVER by a woman, and FASTER than the 51.46 that got McLaughlin the Gold in Tokio. McLaughlin who already went to the OG in Rio in 2016 as a hurdler, so she must have been hurdling at least since 2015 or earlier. In other words, Bol took 4 years to get to the level th at McLaughlin got to in about 6 or more years... Now I have great respect (!) for McLaughlin, she is a fantastic athlete, and she still has that fabulous WR of 50.68. But over the last 1.5 she has not shown much, while Bol has been developing fast, both on the hurdles and the flat. Is Bol now better than McLaughlin? I dont know, and You don't know either, because NOBODY knows the current status of mrs McLaughlin. So I would advise you to just let it go for now. We will see who is the strongest and the fastest in the coming months!
