Nina Power is a social theorist, philosopher and author who wrote What Do Men Want to find out how dark it is to be a man and the masculinity crisis. We discuss Russell Brand, toxic femininity, incels (involuntary celibates) and how a lot of incel language was mistakenly stolen from chimpanzees dynamics. Most of all, we talk about what it is to be a heretic, and how some of woke culture is like a death cult.

The alpha thing was originally based on a study of captive wolves, a bunch of scared males that had been torn away from their packs and thrown together in captivity. Confused and insecure, they lashed out at each other violently. Which is actually very fitting for how these “alpha” bros act. The researcher later recanted his conclusions and said the actual alphas are the parents - both male and female - in a wild pack.

Exactly I read about that too! Found it fascinating. Parents just looking after their kids were alphas is what I remember. 😂 my memory isn’t as good as yours. I wish hope more people read your comment cos it seems to be quite unknown even my dog trainer was going on about alphas. I changed it in my head to one dog is older cos the alpha concept seems bol locks to me now 😂 dammit I can’t watch this now cos she is going on about apes and alphas.

A simp is not a guy who is necessarily speaking to women in a not rude way. A simp is a guy who gives women his resources and attention just to get a crumb of recognition and affection just to be noticed. The women in that situation is above him in the sexual and dating marketplace.

The obsession with defining ourselves and others to such a granular degree has gotten to the point of insanity - all the pigeonhole acronyms floating around online show just how insane. Look back decade by decade and ask wether we are happier now than we were before at any given time - if the answer is a resounding no then try something else!

I enjoy listening to Nina Power. Though not in this clip I did appreciate and concur with her summation of the 1990s during the full interview.

The thing about men improving to get a gf is that incels look around and see plenty of men who clearly aren't great, who do also seem to get into romantic relationships. To her credit Power addresses this - humans aren't perfect and still manage to form relationships

Dear Andrew, thank you for the video. That‘s off topic, but as you are interested in narcissists and lived in Germany, maybe you should check out the case of Gil Ofarim that ended today in court. Very interesting.

5:53 which differences are taught & which are in our DNA. This area needs huge evaluation and redefinition. Because taught differences fuel negative perceptions.

I would very much like to know where this young lady received her degree in sociology from. Because when I received my masters in sociology these theories of hers are not in line with sociological norms. Although I will state that I received my degree a couple of decades ago and so there may have been things due to changes in society that I am unaware of in the current sociological male positions.

It’s not just about being an alpha and dominating others. The leader needs to be intelligent and capable of making decisions. He or she needs to have charisma so people want to follow.

Misogynists (like Elliot Rodger) can't dream up enough reasons to hate women and lash out at women as a distraction from their pent up frustrations w/their own sexual identity. That's why ER did everything humanly possible to blame women for all the ills of his world while he did every thing humanly possible to avoid being intimate w/a woman at all costs. Misandrists no sooner want to be intimate w/a man than a misogynist wants to be intimate w/a woman. Sad characters.

I really enjoyed your interview with Nina. I didn't know exactly what Incel meant. It's used alot. But seriously? Should I start a group of women who are involuntary celibate because of men?? !!! My opinion only??? Just no! No no no. Thanks Andrew

Feminist here! I don't agree with everything Jordan peterson says but he's helped me a tremendous amount, making myself a better person & also understanding the male perspective more & relationship dynamics. Have you ever come across Andrew Huberman? I LOVE LOVE LOVE his content. I'm not sure what angle you'd come from were you to interview him, but I'd love to see it!

Judging from the decision to use such a title disregarding what the sensible lady said in this interview, and the way he inclines (or even enjoys) to label people with low resolution thinking, I would say Andrew Gold is a divisive figure.
