Many people don't know or can't understand that Mariah started her career with a damaged voice (due to nodules) and she been singing since she was a child like that. It's a miracle... the woman is 50 and made an amazing career and gave us outstanding vocals for many years. We should appreciate and take care of her instead of bringing her down everytime we can. We lost Whitney, one of the best vocalist ever and people did the same sh*t they do now with Mariah. Try to understand that these talented woman are not teenagers anymore and they can't sing 100% live always. Also, stop thinking Mariah lips ALL her performances when it's not true. I'm glad that her voice is better now than 3 years ago.

Pour Christina je ne me rappelle pas qu'elle ait eu droit à un acharnement médiatique particulier. Because they get MUCH more criticised than men.

It’s just terrible what the media did to Whitney, Britney and Mariah. It disgusts me that Timberlake was involved in how Britney and Janet were demonised. But I was not expecting to see Amy Winehouse and Miley Cyrus on the list. And I don’t fully agree with their inclusion. Amy was a drug addict. Yes, her life was paparazzi fodder but her talent was truly celebrated till the day she passed. I can’t place the blame on the media for her addictions. With Miley, it wasn’t VF that triggered her spiral. She went through a difficult phase after her breakup with Liam, as a result of an identity crisis and drug taking. This was not a media intrusion issue. Whether or not the media talked about it seems irrelevant because she was literally everywhere being really crazy, with her tongue and coochie hanging out. She wanted to be the cool, bad girl. She elicited a very visceral reaction from the public. Bangerz era was a commercial success and career defining and the publicity helped.

Madonna is a glaring omission here but perhaps she could fill a whole video by herself lol. A large portion of the media and society have mocked her and disrespected her since the very beginning of her career. She's an iconoclast and I know that is where some of the hate comes from. Doesn't mean it's warranted though.

How come you didn’t include Beyoncé? She’s also dealt with media controversy. She dealt with it in Destiny’s Child (the backlash pushed her to depression). She also dealt with a lot of criticism during the self-titled era. A lot of people didn’t like the idea of her being a mother, and so openly sexual. A lot of people were outraged because of the, 2014 “Drunk in Love” Grammy’s performance.

Because although talented, she's not trained, her vocal runs are just ugh, and she's a genuinely unlikeable person. Her interactions with fans are notoriously horrendous and she likes to be in other people's drama. In short, she's the one causing the hate, and there's reasonable excuse to dislike her.

It's easy to dislike Miley Cyrus... not for a cover either. She did receive backlash for that, but most of her backlash comes from her attention by any means possible gimmick.
