Still the Sisters of Silence are basically the female counterparts to the Custodes. So they didn’t need to make female Custodes just add more lore on the Sister of Silence. Warhammer doesn’t need any female representation cause they already got it in the badass Sisters of Battle and Sisters of Silence. Plus there is a reason why the super enhanced soldiers grown from a tube are all men and cause it gives the Emperor better control of them. Next thing ya know they are going to say one of the forgotten primarchs wasn’t a brother but instead a sister.

I don't know why they are trying to pretend female custodes was always canon. I listened/read close to a hundred WH40K books and I don't remember there ever being even a hint that there were female custodes. Should have just said something like "New age, new audience and all that we are going to have female custodes now. Subscribe to Warhammer+."

The only problem with it is that GW tried to pull the gaslight answer and say "Oh there were always female Custodes" instead of "They are NOW adding female custodes." There's nothing about the process that says it CAN'T include women (Unlike the Space Marines who use male gene seed), but the lore did clearly state it was ONLY men being used at the moment.

The emperor is beyond simple male and female. Sisters of Battle/Sisters of Silence and Space Marines/Custodes are a representation of the dynamic of Women and Men: fundamentally different but equally important. This "lets take every male instittion and fill it with females" is a push by cultists who hate Reality and want to erase it, as they believe, trough "social action". They believe that that world is a "social construct" that can be changed trough "social action" (redefinition of words, creation of new terms to present their delusions as "real", activism/terrorism, etc). Sisters of Battle are not female space Marines, nor are they really good analogues. But I argue, that's the point. They're Nuns with Guns, mostly normal women empowered by fayth and some gadgets and gizmos. They're not trying to be female Space Marines, they don't want to be, that's not their thing. Why be 'the girl version' when you can be your own thing? It's even in their name, Adepta Soritas. Their femininity goes beyond mere pandering, it's a plot point, they exist because of a poorly worded clause in the Eclesiarchy codex.

IF gw is gonna through with this...change in lore for the custodes, then I rather that it stops there at female custodes and that being the end of it. why? because I get it that custodes and space marines are not the same augmented, transhuman super soldiers/warriors of the god-emperor. In fact, somewhere in the lore of space marine creation has implied that this was deliberate by the E-man himself to prevent space marines from any getting bright ideas of engineering/creating a master race of astartes to slowly but surely replace the homo sapiens by breeding with one another. rendering us regular humans obsolete. whereas one is comparably a mass-produced make derived from the DNA template and geneseed stock from demigod SONS of the emperor, meaning that space marine geneseed is incompatible with women. the adeptus custodes by contrast have no geneseed and ergo no artificial organs implanted in their bodies that make them. the emperor's own words sums up this "Each one of the Ten Thousand represents genetic lore acquired over many lifetimes. And part of the casualties from the recruitment process is organ rejection. Obviously, we are able to transplant organs from matching donors who may or may not be the same sex, however factor sex characteristics in addition to the complexity of new cloned organs of questionable origin. It adds a variable that from the view of the administration offers no discernable benefit while increasing the potential for lost recruits. Less damaging option would be to use said girl to bear stronger children and thus initiates, thus increasing number of potential warriors. Addiitionally, like you said. The Emperor never intended for the trans-humans to replace humans. Keeping it restricted to just males limits the potential of "unforeseen" consequences. Additionally, the Custodes are loyal to the Emperor. It would never enter their mind to replace humanity. Space Marines however...

When i was a kid, we needed a proxy for a Tactical Marine unit, so we painted up a Necron Warrior as an ultramarine. He jad a modulator in his throat that let him 'say' EMPEROR. He was haiiled as rhe most loyal soldier that everyone ahould try to live up to. Which eventually lead to the Dreadnaught synchronized dancing to honor and entertain the emperor at the Emperors Gala.

My only issue is that this could very well lead to sisters of silence getting sidelined into oblivion (more than they already are anyway)

I've been playing Warhammer since 1984 and added 40K in 1987. Our group of 15 - 20 (depending) has been playing together for roughly 20 years now. We get together twice a week (or more) to escape our wives, drink beer, and hold campaign events. It's part of our life and we've all spent tens-of-thousands on our hobby over the years. However, after all the BS that's come to light recently, we're going our own way. We have 2 graphic artists in the group who can design new armies for us, and we bought a couple of 3D printers to make our own models. We are all long time Warhammer veterans, so we know the game's mechanics well enough for us to create OUR OWN lore, rule sets, and models. We don't need Amazon or GW to continue to enjoy Warhammer. “To admit defeat is to blaspheme against the Emperor.”

Hm. You may be a bit surprised, there could be a reasonably small market demand for this. My daughter does enjoy these model range and dose like painting them. I don't think it's that dumb. She currently prefers beasts/dragons but last time we were in a GW store she chose a female vampire character from the AoS range. Interestingly female representation sometimes seem stronger for non-human factions I'm with @majorkill in this one. I don't have a problem with a peppering of extraordinary females being able to reach the rank of custodian. I doubt they'd make it a 50:50 or even large spread. They'll release a few token models here and there.

For me it makes sense as it talks about how the custodians are hand crafted, meaning any complications that a gender difference could cause would be ignored because they are created by the emporrer. Ignoring that it's a game and retcons happen.

I mean to be fair other organizations in fiction like the Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout, and Brotherhood of Mutants from X-Men also have female members. I'm sure you could even find some real-life examples. You could say that when Valdor calls them a brotherhood he's referring more to the fraternal aspect of the Custodes rather than them all actually being men. Now I'm sure that would be a retcon, but one that makes sense.

@@redwings0142 if they would’ve given us new lore with a new character I really feel like that would’ve pleased almost everyone(of course people would still complain) but to just say “they were always there” is just so lazy and a slap in the face to people who have read a lot of the actual lore.

@@primarchcharlemagne3933 I do agree and I could have done without this lore change, but I am willing to see how they handle it. This was something that they wanted to do for a while and not something out of the blue, so I hope GW has had the time to write it in a way that makes sense. If they ever do decide to do female space marines tho (which I’m 99% sure they won’t) I’m not on-board for that. Wouldn't make sense with the way their enhancements work anyway. At least Custodians make some sense with their different augmentation process.

It would make perfect sense for Majorkill's army to be called the "Guy's n' Gal" and feature exactly one and only one female Custodes.
