Felted Acorns: An Intro to Needle Felting

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

If you've never tried needle felting before, there couldn't be a more perfect introduction to the craft than these little acorns!
The acorns are made by simply felting a ball and then gluing the felted ball to a natural acorn top. Felting spheres is a great way to get a feel for needle felting and it's so easy you can do it while watching your favourite Christmas movie! See below for supplies and related tutorials:

These are so cute! I love felting. A fun tip for these little decorative pieces is to put a few drops of essential oil on them to use as a kind of diffuser (I've done it with lavender, sage, and tea tree oil).

Make sure they have finger guards if they are young it’s easy to get your finger with the needle if you aren’t paying attention

Oh Shayda you are so inspiring, I so desperately want to make some of these for my tree!!! Unfortunately I am not going to find any acorns here in Australia 😩. I am in love with your instagram photo of your house in the snow, it is enchantingly beautiful. Today in Australia it is very very hot and sunny!! ❤️

This is really cute. Be careful poking. The needle is sharp. I just poked my finger : /. Put something underneath and sure careful handling the felt.

You can't make those, as they are the tops of the natural acorns from the Oak trees. You have to gather them from the nature.

Is there any way to do this with something besides real wool? Does a fake wool exist?

I've never found anything that works like wool. The natural fibres in the wool is coarse which allows for this whole process to work. Plant and synthetic fibres are usually too smooth. I have seen this done with cat and dog hair. My aunt collects her cats' fur when she brushes them and makes little felted mice for them. Out of their own hair...

We are great, but you are air felting, at this is not an advised technique , especially for beginner nerves!
