    I've come to love this drill. Doing this as my practice swing and then focusing on recreating that feeling in the swing has me hitting them straighter and longer. Also... I was having some lower back pain, but this got me turning correctly without hurting my back. So I can keep my long back swing :)

    I have watched Shawn demonstrate the feet-together drill before, but for whatever reason the idea of the butt/hips being the catapult or counterweight in the swing finally resonated with me this time.

    @@golflessons I honestly believe the catapult approach can rejuvenate older golfer's game, even dramatically improve it. I know Rory uses a variant of this, with the knee flex sequence and and years ago he also optimized his launch angle to become one of the longest hitters of the ball. I turn 58 this year myself and if I can get my health improved I just might do a private online lesson! It's going to be a great summer of golf.

    What’s fun about feet together is that you don’t have to worry about low point; When the feet are appart and you struggle it means you do not have a clear understanding of how the legs are meant to support the swing WITHOUT THINKING! See our premium channel at wisdom in golf premium.com and see “feet together back to feet apart” which is a huge winner and then see “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series”

    Sean, if i may ask, I have heard that acceleration begins after dropping the club in the "slot" I have also heard to pre set the club in the slot in the backswing and fire through the ball. So many different ways, and i cant seem to find whats best. Is either of the 2 swing methods I mentioned actually correct?

  • @golflessons

    @golflessons

    2 ай бұрын

    Just partially! The “slot” is a place in time that lasts a millisecond or 2; it just needs to match the direction you want to start the ball before curve and wind get to it; what both instructors and golfers alike don’t get, because they have not taken the time to properly examine human anatomy and movement patterns through the full spectrum of disciplines and spots, is that the human machine is a 2 pendulum machine; with no strings attached; and you are trying to place and manipulate and make sure which is what takes flow and speed away. See a simple task that will put all that you are asking in place seamlessly, see “throw the club straight shawn clement” and then film yourself doing it! Then when you see the swing in it’s full glory, come on over to our premium channel where we will show you how to put the ball in the way of that and predict contact, direction of flight and curvature at will! Video series to watch at WISDOM IN GOLF PREMIUM.COM are the latest “2 pendulum series” (which will explain what you are asking here) then “the throwing series” and the “release” videos, the “goldilocks series”, the “target confirmation series” and then core video would be “alignment reload”, “blur of club”, “how to match backswing to ball direction” Let’s go!

    Shawn, that 303 driver shot had 1200 rpm spin. What spin rate do you consider too low? The first shot which had 1800 spin is about the low end of what I've been led to believe is acceptable. Curious on your thoughts. BTW, way to go with your fitness and swing speed! I aspire to have your swing speed when I'm at your age.

    Quite a bit! First we always have 2 camera angles to give a more 3 dimensional aspect to the lessons; helps a lot, especially the split screens and drone views! Then there is the service aspect; I am right there everyday answering questions and comments and if you are in a pickle, send your swing in for analysis and I can point you to what you need to do next to get to your next level! The video series in there are not subject to algorithms either; I get to put in the most important videos to keep moving forward; there are at least 20 series in there you won’t see on youtube; too much ahead of it’s time. And for $9.95? So everyone can afford it, even the staff in the backshop!

    Shawn: I watched your video yesterday and went to the range today and tried it out. My miss is a thin shot, but I didn’t thin many doing your feet together drill. Can you tell me what dynamically was happening? Again, when I miss it’s thin, but not with this drill. Curious as to a little deeper ‘why’ so I can 1) know and/or be more aware and 2) implement with feet a bit back to normal width. Thank you for the drill and in advance of any answers - Tom

    Hey Tom! If you were swaying off the ball or getting too far ahead of it in the downswing, you would be moving the swing’s centre and low point; very hard to do feet together! And now that you have a better understanding of the ground forces that naturally come feet together, these will come in VERY handy when you get back feet apart. In our premium channel, a video I am very proud of, is called “feet together back to feet apart” and complement it with the “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series” followed by more understanding of when your centre moves you want to see “contact mile markers”, “alignment reload” (very critical to centring in the swing), “blur of club”, “arc blur unstoppable momentum series” and the “goldilocks series” (predicting that your set up will allow you to deliver into your targets with solid contact and direction) Wisdom in golf premium.com

    Hi Shawn, good stuff! I have a dilemma... I'm right handed but "heave" an axe (as well as bat in baseball) from the left. I can play from the left as well as the right. Here it comes: left seems to be more accurate from the driver to long irons, and right more crispy i7-wedge... Some thoughts..?

  • @golflessons

    @golflessons

    Haha, just a few! I had the exact same transition and then started to get as accurate and long from both sides and the rules state 14 clubs in the bag; so my odd numbered irons are right and even numbers are left; right handed driver and left handed 3 wood or vice versa depending on the golf course; wedges from both sides and a right handed putter; the side I toss horse shoes or soft balls from. Never on the wrong side of a tree, bunker, water hazard…👊👍😀

You have excellent hand eye coordination and can probably make any swing work. It'd be really nice to see if how this translates to a mid/high handicapper. Do you have any videos where you try this out with a student?
