I put eggs in my crumble! It makes a great consistency to be able to scoop up.

She can drink water, but I had a chick that fixed with his leg when he couldn’t stand, so I hope that she’ll be okay now! She’ll be a special needs now, too. I have a cross beak and I feed the “torpedos.” Like the size of small jelly bean but longer. This was is a mess and seems harder for her. KZread “torpedo feeding chickens.” My girl has gained 3 pounds!🙂 Before, I couldn’t feel any weight when I held her.😕 I would think this mush gets in her nose. Trying to make it as healthy as possible, I mix laying mash graduals, coconut oil, raw eggs and vitamins to a putty and let sit over night in the frig. Then pre make a small bowl of torpedos for the week, she eats about 20 per day and is doing so much better. They stay hard in the frig, I just put/push them in her beak and she swallows them right down. Look it up. 👍

I feed my cross beak like this 2 times a day since I can’t feed her in the morning, what is the recommended amount of feeding per day? I give her an hour to eat each time secluded from the other hens and she is growing so much slower than the others is that normal? Should I feed her 3 times a day? Of course I can’t leave blended food out with her all day in the run. She is also jumping over the run fence multiple times per day, I feel like she isn’t eating enough maybe or she is really wanting to explore but none of my hens follow and get out with her.

Our scissor beak chicken passed recently at 6 mo. I miss her dearly.

What about grit? Always use fine, chick grit mixed into food or can she (as an adult) handle regular sized grit...? ??Mix into the food

Why didn't you trim the beak to be more normal shaped?

How do you make sure their beaks stay clean? Mine doesn’t like me touching her beak or eyes. But she’s such a messy girl and only 2 weeks old.

Can she still lay eggs? ...or does her condition affect it?
