Did I mention that Caballe' was supposed to sing. There was a last minute cancellation. Carreras stepped in. That's why he's wearing "street clothes" and not a tux. Ah, those days. I just went over (with my 'ancient video camera'). There were plenty of inexpensive tickets available. It seems to me- there was very little publicity. No one seemed to know about this recital. Frankly. I was not familiar with Mompou's work- but rather went for the others. His music is lovely. Glad I captured it.

Glorious! The piano just sings under Alicia's hands. Carreras in top form.

Alicia de Larrocha is one of the greatest music gifts to humanity. And José Carreras had a wonderful voice, but everything he sang sounded exactly the same, no matter the repertoire and the time period of the compositions he performed the style came across like Verdi o Puccini, unfortunately his audiences often forget the importance of interpreting the styles correctly.

Disagree with "Baritone". Delicate shading and rubato according to composer.
