It's crazy how much mental block Fed had against Djokovic. He would do so well throughout the tournament and usually when they met in the final he'd fall in the last hurdle. Was quite frustrating as a Fed fan.

Its crazy how Federers fans justify his every loss with him having a mental block. The irony is, they are the ones having a mental block, they just cant accept the fact he lost to 2 better players.

@@fabianocaruana8622 It’s crazy how it’s arguably the main reason why Fed always lost to Djokovic in tight matches. Like the Wimbledon 2019 final, Djokovic didn’t have to do anything special; Fed just collapsed mentally on bigger points. It’s crazy, right?

@@unowen7591I think you’re wildly underestimating how clutch Djokovic was in key moments. “Didn’t have to do anything special.” Djokovic didn’t make a single error in the tiebreaks. That in itself, is not easy to do for ANYONE. He doesn’t fold, while his opponent does. It’s easy to interpret that as “Federer choking” (which he did) but the stats as a whole say Djokovic is the most clutch player of all time

In fact, calling a win when down MPs vs your opponent on his serve a "clutch win" is (oxy)moronic, especially when your opponent is one of the sport's great servers. Take these 4 matches: RG11, USO11, Wimby 12, Wimby 19. Fed was approx. 30, 30, 31, & 38 y.o old when they were played. He also had MPs on his serve in *all* four of them - MPs that were earned over several hours & sets in the face of Djoko's vaunted "clutchness". RG11. *Fed is ~30 years old.* An ace at 6-5 in the 4th set TB. *FED WINS.* Djoko's clutchness? *Nonexistent,* simply by virtue of the match being fully on the racquet of one of the game's greatest servers, still playing at close to the height of his powers. No amount of "clutchness" can return an ace. USO11. *Fed is 30 years old.* MP1: A slowish serve-out wide that Djoko guessed correctly & took a huge go-for-broke swat at. Like he said later, he didn't know how he did it, but he guessed correct and *"got lucky". MP2: A good serve up the T that ND did well to get back; the ball landed midcourt and Fed had a nice FH set up. He rushed the shot slightly and it clipped the tape and fell out. It goes over the net & it's 50-50 that Fed wins it; it clips the net less hard, it possibly dribbles over & the match is done. So, once again, some good guessing from ND, some daring, & some luck, but no clutchness. (The next couple of points were split, then ND earned a BP & Fed gave away the game with a DF. Again, no clutchness. If anything, ND was the one playing freely coz he couldn't do anything else...the match was out of his hands.) Wimby12. *Fed is ~31 years old.* 30-30 at 5-3 in the 4th set on Fed's serve. Fed goes out wide (deliberately, like he's said in an interview; just to see if lightning could strike twice), ND guesses correctly again but this time the serve's better than the USO one & he doesn't manage to return it. MP1: Fed goes down the T (again to ND's forehand, just like at RG11), ND gets to it but nets his return. *FED WINS.* Wimby19 (8-7 in the 5th, Fed serving). *Fed is ~38 years old.* 15-15: Fed goes down the T. Ace. 30-15: Fed goes down the T. Another Ace. 40-15: Fed goes down the T *again,* with a superb swinging serve. Has Djoko *completely fooled* (he moves right thinking he's being clever) & it looks for all the world that Fed has won the match on a hattrick of aces. Djoko even begins to step forward to go to the net...but the ball hits the tape (2 mm from being an ace is what we know now) & falls back. Fed hits a slow serve out wide, Djoko returns it decently, then Fed messes up by looking to hit a FH without moving out the way quickly enough. 40-30: Fed hits a safer serve down the T again. Djoko punts it back; Fed rushes his approach shot (he's obviously nervous), doesn't connect too well & hits it short & ND hits a *clutch* passing shot to bring up deuce. A younger Fed may have been able to come back, but not this Fed. He collapses & loses the next two points tamely. So what do we have? FOUR matches with Fed serving for the match. Four matches where he reaches MP(s). Two matches where he wins his first MP; two matches where he's within 3-5 mm of winning one of the MPs. In between USO 2011 & Wimby 2012, not much time has elapsed & Fed is still young enough to be aggressive with his shots (refer to the 3rd set SP where he breaks ND to go 2-1 sets up). The next time it happens, SEVEN years have passed, Fed has played approx. 450 matches, secured his legacy with his stunning 2017 season, & beaten Rafa at Wimby for the first time since he lost to him. Also, he's reached MPs at 8-7 by breaking Djokovic's serve *seven times* over the course of the match, while being broken only twice. If you've actually read all of this & still want to insist that Djoko was clutch in a situation where being clutch was *never in his hands,* well - it means that I've wasted a fair amount of time & energy writing this essay. If, otoh, you see what I'm getting at; well, I'd say it was worth the trouble. (I don't have YT notifications turned on, so I'm not sure I'll remember to return to this comment, but if I do, I hope I'll find that it's the latter. 😇)

I only pay attention to stats which can’t be argued with. -highest tiebreak win %: Djokovic -fewest matches lost after having match points: Djokovic -highest deciding set win %: Djokovic -highest crucial point win %: Djokovic -highest 5 set win %: Djokovic -Djokovic win % after being up 2-0: 99.6% I could probably list 100 more but I don’t know them at the top of my head. In fact pretty much all metrics point to Djokovic as being the king of clutch. But yea bro…it’s all fluke 😂

Federer's forehand // all around game was so off this year :/ you can tell at start of 2019 he worked on things and made a small minor adjustment with the grip and from the Dubai tourney he found the game // small grip adjustment he wanted // needed :)

It's sad and great how bad Roger was here and yet he only lost 6-4 6-4.

i disliked every loss federer had to djokovic only because i knew how much talent roger had many tennis players are great like djokovic but their game was tedious and boring baseline exchanges from a tennis fan perspective the fed express was a brilliant shotmaker he wasn't always on but when he was the opponent was often just as astounded as the fans

I agree! I felt bad when he lost to him in his 2019 Wimbledon final and having match point I can only imagine hadn't he won that place would have erupted, roger set the standard in winning consistency before Nadal and Novak, to me he was the Michael Jordan of tennis that played with finesse and I miss watching him play.

How hard is it for a tournament organiser to produce videos like this, why are highlights so bad usually

sooooo what do you determine as the goat? djokovic has the records and stats, he has the head 2 heads, he has the titles, he has more longevity, how is he not the goat? this isnt even a debate. you can like federer and nadal all you want but at some point you just have to sit there and take it in, djokovic is the GOAT

@@MarcioSouzaBIO6 O que decide quem é melhor são as vitórias e os títulos. Djokovic é o melhor,não importa o que A ou B digam, ele realizou para isso e ninguém tem méritos maiores que os deles, ainda mais alguém que foi derrotado costumeiramente em grandes finais por ele.

Although he lost this time, Federer had previously faced Djokovic three times in the finals in Cincinnati, winning all three encounters. Moreover, Federer was 37 years old at the time, the same age Djokovic is this year. Can Djokovic this year defeat Federer from that time?

its pain to watch RF commiting so much unforced errors and loosing ponts because no patience. He was too much in a rush strategy on this match... the ressult ws prett much obvious.

Probably the worst final Federer played.

No, 2017 Rogers Cup final, 2013 Rome final and 2010 Shanghai final were worse than it,

Easily the worst performance from Fed in their entire rivalry I think. Whatever reason it was, his topspin shots were non existent. Completely relied on pace from Novak to just reflect the ball back across the court. Virtually every ball he tried accelerating on resulted in an error.

He even missed the ball completely to get broken in the first set. He was in position, had his feet set, the ball bounced on the service line(so not deep) and he just clean missed it!

Roger was horrible in this match

Federer is getting used to the new racquet, he later switched back to the older one because he is not used to the that version of the racquet. You can see some of the shots he is making he isn't so sure due to the racquet

The white paint on the sides must add weight, hence harder to put topspin on his shots and many balls going long. With his specs this one didn't work out so he went back to the black one.

Tuxedo racquet no good for him.

Federer's serve is horrible in this series.
