A few years back I figured I’d try recording one of Huntingburg’s original sirens again. They have mostly 2001s, but two of their three original sirens still operate as a backup. This is their only STH-10, located on the north side of town alongside a bank and a car wash. The other one was -130d but they still have it in storage. For a while they were hooked up via telephone relay and ran attack. But in recent years they’ve been upgraded to radio activation. Sadly, there’s no more attack signal, but at least this system is more reliable. Besides the rust, it still sounds healthy for a siren installed back in 1974.
Sirens in Dubois County are tested every first day of the month at 6pm, with the exception of Jasper which tests at 4pm. Tests get canceled during active storms or if severe weather is expected.

I love the rasp that some STH-10s have. One of the ones local to me has it and it definitely makes it louder and way more painful on the ears.

@@TheJakeman789Honestly the only thing that seems to look not the greatest is the paint, literally everything else is fine. And like someone else had said, the looks of it doesn’t matter, as long as it does what it’s supposed to do then it’s perfectly fine.
