The government has really called things more difficult for its citizens, and we can't sit back and bear all the consequences of the bad governance. It's obvious we are neck dip on inflation,it is always the poor who take the hit.

Interest rates are still very LOW!! The Fed simply kept rates on the floor way, way too long. The Fed is responsible for 95% of the problems today.

@@joehoe6036trump actually wanted negative interest rates to prop up the country. Making borrowing money PAY you to take it. And that’s almost what they did during convid. It was a dumb idea then as it is now. Rates should be at 7 or higher to save our currency. Still too much money being printed and no sign of slowing down.
Charles, you are my favorite on Fox biz, but when Ms. Booth is on please give her time to speak and quit cutting her off! Thank u sir!

Nisha Patel thinks unemployment needs to go higher first because inflation is the key metric to look at. People can handle inflation all day every day, they can not however handle loosing their jobs. Talk about out of touch…
@weirdshibainu

Unemployment is brutal, but the Fed doesn't care. They've given themselves a mandate of 2 percent inflation ( that will be based on skewed data) and Powell has alluded to but never said outloud he wants higher unemployment to reduce aggregate demand. Higher unemployment is coming down the tracks. Unfortunately the cure for inflation will be on the backs of those less able to afford it.

People are so much in debt they no longer intent to ever pay back the loans. They get the loans because they qualify for them, we have social media influencers and rich people who write books telling people that debt builds wealth to thank for.
More tone deaf reporting. Guess what, the average American out there does not have a portfolio. They have bills.

I'm about as average as it gets and I have a portfolio. A modest portfolio. The reason I have it is because I live below my means, avoid unnecessary debt and make that critical move to put something, sometimes it's not a whole lot of money but it is always something aside every week. It is not fun, fashionable or easy but I do it anyway. If I could do it anyone can, it is not easy though.

Maybe ask around if many people have their limits reduced for no reason. Credit numbers are also beig adjusted for no reason. It is simply squeezing people accross the board as one method to reduce inflation.

Used to be the arguement was all about gold (hard money) versus silver. Today it's inflation versus reigning in the debt. Nothing changes. The rich strategize a way to get richer and the poor and Middle Class just have to suck it up and struggle to get to the top.
The big inflation already happened, the tiny moves in monthly CPI at 3.x here are a distraction ... big recession coming that will take rates down in a hurry.
Hang on a minute. Let me just check, see if I understand. Consumers are not getting dragged into being in debt as much as they were; and people not getting into as much debt as previously they were, is a bad thing?
@deseosuho

Banks tightening lending standards and consumers reaching their debt limits means spending is coming down. Consumer spending is ~70% of the US economy. It's a leading indicator of poor corporate earnings and more layoffs.
