Hi Alex, thank you! Bad Food plot seed...food and for soil as it takes so many nutrients to break it down. Poor for pure screening alone too.

I could not imagine what it’s like to have “sharp shooters” lurking on nearby property. God bless y’all. There HAS to be a better way to manage this disease!

Amen to that! No immediate neighbors, but definitely within a few. Too far away to know them...but top close for comfort!
Jeff, one video I have not seen from you. But you might have put out is how to hunt swamps. We have a 100 acre thicket/swamp/woods property in southern Michigan. Would love to see some content on how to hunt it.

His browse plot video would be a good one for that situation.
Don't forget to loosen the straps on your treestands and stick ladders to allow the tree growth this year. If the strap girdles the tree (stops the sap from flowing) the tree will die over a few years. I have a stand where the bucks enter the food plot from the same direction 9 times out of 10. They come from cover late afternoon through a particular hole in the brush. I call it the "pez dispenser". It comes out of what I call the buck factory.
Tree order! On it.

Buried my truck recently trying to get out to do habitat work on a field edge in the snow. Definitely will get to tracks on a UTV eventually. Still was able to connect some open pockets in pines that I’m planning to fill with switchgrass in the spring for bedding.
Let's go!! Time for deer chores! Lol, thanks Jeff!

Amen!! Ha, some of my favorite videos of the month 😊
So much to do…so little time it seems. Hard to believe it’s a day from February already. Have been working every weekend since mid December on improvements. Finally had snow on the ground and found doe bedding in the darndest place, but once I really looked around, it all made sense why they bed there. Going to improve that spot and have a sweet tree to get a stand on the transition to food plot.

Can't wait to see what blends you have. I would also suggest pics with different blends so that people can get a visual of what it will become. I do believe visual grabs a little more attention and helps visual learners. Just a suggestion. Thanks for the videos and content you put out.
I'm starting to realize how much I need to do haha but I appreciate all the knowledge that you give for free!

Where you getting your seed from?
Hi Guys! Love the content! Question: Does cottonwood regenerate well? What would you do to a small patch of cottonwoods to creat cover? Hinge or clear cut? Thanks!
Jeff The seed combinations you use are those all on your website? For instance, you did a video with combo of 100lbs of peas, then 20lbs buckwheat, then radish and some other. I believe it was a total of 150lbs of seed/acre. Is this combo available and if so can you elaborate where? Thanks!

Hey Jeff, love the videos really appreciate all the insight! i’ve watched just about all your videos. i had a question when it comes to food plot planning. i’m new to the food plot thing and i’m looking to plant some fruit trees on the property (apples, persimmons, and pears) Would i be better to plant these trees in a small hunting plot, bigger holding plot, or open wood pockets? Have you had any experience with planting the trees within the food plots? If so what’s a good seed, and how do you control chemicals from killing the fruit tree but killing the weeds. Would love to see a video regarding this topic. Can’t thank you enough for the knowledge i’ve gained from your channel!
Jeff did you ever do the video about small acreage next to public land for setup? Also what seed would you suggest for northern wisconsin
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
Жыл бұрын
Hi Jon! I do talk about that in my food plot book, food plot web class and a lot of the small parcel design videos...even the one recently where Dylan jumped in. You want food away from the public land if possible...typically on the opposite side of your land. And what to plant is very tough! That depends on how large your plots are, what kind of equipment you have, soil types and numbers of deer to name a few considerations. Layering rye can be your friend...layering over brassicas, our green blend, etc.

Yet another great and informative video, keep up the good work! We have had great success frost seeding our clover here in Ohio in February. Do you ever frost seed on your properties?
Any tree places around la crosse or eau claire that you would recommend? Thanks for all the information you provide! Things my dad never taught me. Lol
Hi Jeff, Been following along for a few months now. Looking to make improvements to my small 12 acre parcel in mid-Michigan. The back half drops down into a creek bottom and there has been quite a bit of dead fall throughout in the last 2 years. What's your take on cleaning/clearing this up in the winter?
I’m relocating my plots near where our turkeys typically roust. (Brassica/green blend) Anything I should consider or avoid? Corn is problematic I believe you mentioned?

Honest question? What are the reasons for adding rabbit habitat?
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
Жыл бұрын
Hi Tony! I love rabbits 😊 Brings me back to my childhood and hunting rabbits with pellet guns. Also much better food for coyotes than fawns 😉 Just a compliment to the habitat. Same with pheasants! We high 5 when we see a pheasant and an increase in numbers...but don't hunt them. We are adding a couple Kestrel boxes this year too and I love seeing the grouse population building now after cutting the Aspen. And then when we cut our rabbit huts they are in good doe bedding areas and add to the screening and amount of sunlight hitting the ground. Also, I can't wait for my 10 month old son Jaxon to come back in after hunting with my Sheridan pellet gun with a rabbit for rabbit stew, some day 😁

Are you using your seed Blends or selling them to us and then using John comps
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

I am definitely using my own...more experience goes into my own blends than likely just about any other seed company you can buy from. I've been writing about, publishing my work and creating seed combos since 1995. Even publishing a lot of my early work in the Quality Whitetails magazine in the 2000s. We are in no way connected with John Komp and Northwoods Whitetails...I hand pick every seed that goes into our blends so it would be kind of silly to use anyone else's blends, when I've put more time and effort into creating blends and designing food plot programs across the country, than likely anyone else in the country 👍
I'm putting clover on my qtr acre plots too... looking forward to upcoming spring clover planting videos ☘🦌

In another video you mentioned to hinge cut when the sap is running (kzread.info/dash/bejne/lGGAk5Kbacenc7Q.html). This video says to do it before "syrup season." Could you help clarify when the ideal time to hinge cut? I would imagine you would want to start when it isn't frigid cold outside, so the tree is not brittle/weak. So that may mean sap is running through the trees as things start to warm up. Most important would be not to injure the tree of course to generate regrowth.
