    Thank you for the overview. It looks like a very powerful and functional graphics calculator for high school and college. I'm thinking about buying this for my son who will enter high school this year.

    Before you buy, see what calculator the teacher recommends. Most high school math teachers recommend the TI 84 Plus CE Graphing Calculator for US high schools.

    @@VentanaMedia this is very true, I used one through my last year of Highschool. They normally allow you to use it (at least my school did) but the teachers generally only know how to use and help with TI. Furthermore, the calculator did me well throughout Highschool but I did have to look up how to do some specific things or just figure it out.

    The TI-84CE is a great calculator but TI is going to have to lower the price if they want that machine to stay on top. $125-$135 is too much. The CG50 you show here retails for about $80. Fifty dollars less than the 84CE. The real 84CE killer however is the newer Casio 9750Giii. It basically does all the 84CE does for only about $40. It just doesn’t have a color screen which in math is nice but not essential. So a family that is strapped for cash will take the Casio every time being $100 dollars cheaper. Be careful with the CG50 when you are clearing memory etc. I accidentally deleted the 3D app on this calculator and I didn’t have a computer with a USB port to get it back. So be careful with your memory management with this calculator.

    In distribution mode that last but one distribution is Chi-squared, that’s the Greek letter Chi (χ) not an X. It confuses a lot of people. Similarly, you may have heard of the document production system LaTeX, whilst the Latin capital X is generally used (as most keyboards don’t have χ key) it’s pronounce Lah-Tech, not latex.

    Very helpful! Sorry I'm so late to the party. IDK if you still make videos, I'm going to look for more on this calc but I feel compelled to say: I had to rewind 20 seconds on most of the modes. I took me like 9-10 minutes to watch the video that way and get the information. Im just saying, if the video was 10 minutes long I might not have had to rewind! and so many times! not criticizing, just trying to make you better cause I think you're already good. Maybe better than good! Have a great day!

    The only issue is don’t support macOS, one can plug into a PC and upload or download files fine but macOS that has type-c ports no drive. Tho this could be an macOS version issue and older versions of macOS may work but the latest nope.

    I must say the CG50 is awesome, but when is Casio going to address some glaring issues with it, most of which can be fixed via software...There are lot of minor inconveniences (to major ones like lack of dedicated ANS key). Software ones are for example the inability to copy an answer line(!?), so many improvements in usability, like copy the equation of tangent/normal into the grapher istead of just showing it so we can find interceptd etc... or allow us to copy a probability from stats Dist into Run/Matrix for calculation. The entire G solve menu and functions are missing for parametric equations so you cant do much with them... the isolated Conics app, you cant draw straight lines and other function with circles because its detached ap outside the grapher. You CANNOT define a graph implicitly unlike other calculators where you can...allow us to find where a particular gradient is X on the graph etc. intead of just find gradient at a point. The new Distribution app may great for visualisation but useless for practical in exam use as It does not have all the stats tools the Stats ap has... why not integrate it there in the Stats as a menu option when calulating a probabily so that we can see the visualisation if we need to right when calculating probabilties and info is there. I am a big fan of the CG50 but I just think it is still very behind in many ways and need people who do a lot of Math with it to fine tune it. I would love it if Casio would hear me.

    I intend on getting a CG50, I just have two questions: Does it entirely replace the 9750GIII in functionality? What software steps would one take to optimize / improve user experience?

  • @AceOfHearts001

    @AceOfHearts001

    4 ай бұрын

    @TrifoldBored Hey CG50 should have all the features of that model you mentioned. Actually the firmware is very similar it's really the hardware that's upgraded. I don't think there's too many extra features on CG50 other than a whole lot better user experience due to colour screen etc. You might have some extra apps, but the majority are common apps with very similar functionality I'd say.

    So besides the color display, this is not much different compared to my fx-9860g. This calculator costs more than an average smartphone and still the display resolution is crappy and it seems to have much less memory. For that amount of cash I would expect wifi, much better processor etc. I guess these calculators are used in class only and therefore they don't invest in much technological improvements.
