Finally! Great job and review. Love my 200rr. It's WAY more fun than my old 300, and more than capable than me. But maybe more importantly, it's easier to ride and I don't get fatigued as quick as my old 300. The ONLY time I wish it had more power is above 10,000+ feet (Which I rarely ride). Looking forward to more 200 and small bore videos. Especially a 200 vs 300 lap times. You should have a lower skilled rider do that also. I think I'd be faster on my 200 than a 300.

I have a 22 200 race edition, what you gain in fun and rideability over the 300 is great as an intermediate rider... Really feels like you are able to use the potential of the 200 but you have to stay sharp on gear selection and rpm, especially in technical riding. A great all round bike for the average rider, it really raised the fun factor coming off a 300.

I owned a te150i and a te300i. The 150 was a great bike for learning the clutch and finding my balance but it got progressively harder to get better on. Before I owned either Husky I had a KTM 200 and that bike was my favorite thing since waffles.

The dead spot is probably just a jetting issue that should be easily resolved . Yeehaa! Variety is the spice my friends! Thanks for the video Rich!

As mentioned elsewhere a 200 vs 300 video would be quite interesting. Adding B and C class riders to the test would really help us mere mortals in relating to how these bikes compare. As an older rider who still loves technical terrain I fully admit my 300 can get away from me at times as the power far exceeds my requirements in most situations.

I backed down to a sherco 250 I do miss my 300 when racing the young guys but I'm 60hrs in and it hasn't bit me yet... with plenty of opportunities. Smack a tree and open the throttle all the way it still stays under me. Same goes for some killer hill climbs. The 300 got me quite a few times and made me way more tired just from the extra torque.

@woodysrockspyro6436 Agree with your thoughts Woody. I'm not in peak shape nor haven't ridden most of your life, my 300 had me fatigued in 30min. On the smaller bore bikes I can focus on technique and just have more fun. That was a tough pill for me to swallow but now I'm over it and enjoying the ride so much more.

I ride a 98 KTM 200exc with an fmf gnarly pipe, flywheel weight and 12/50 gearing, I love it, I ride mostly slow tech like creek beds and have never felt in need of more power. One big advantage is through different clutch springs, spring spacers and a 9mm master I have been able to get the clutch pull down to 6lb's which is amazing, it almost feels broken it's so light, never get arm pump in the hard stuff on that bike.

Rich so glad you gave your opinion on the 200. I rode a 2004 KTM 200 for years but it was an odd year as very light switch power. I recently purchased a 2020 Sherco 250se factory, and I love the suspension and luggable power, but it is a heavy and tall 250 two-stroke. So I am very interested in the Beta, being a shorter and older rider. Hoping to ride single track trails into my 70’s. Any additional info you provide is very much appreciated. Love your training videos and your bike opinions. I would like to see a 300 to 200 comparison. Thanks again.

Great review as always Rich. I was able to ride a 200 rr at demo day and was totally stoked on it. Light and with a surprising amount of grunt. Had to ride in the higher R’s but it made it fun! The 200 is an excellent transition for kids moving out of an 85 2t or 125 4t once they are tall enough and heavy enough to need a bigger bore. My son is on an ‘03 KTM 200 I picked up after trying the 200 for myself. He loves it.

The bike just felt lazy especially when I started lugging and then needed more throttle. Checked the spark plug and sure enough it was black. I used the jetting table in the users manual and ordered right sizes and the "dead zone" is way less noticeable and spark plug is nice and golden brown now. The list of mods: dented the radiators to get a tighter turning radius, pegs that are lower and to the rear, 9mm clutch pump and after market clutch discs since I had the "squeal" which could be heard on hard launches for long climbs with very little run up. Also I use 13/49 sprockets and tried 12/49 but since the gearbox seems to lave lower ratios it was useless on long and loose climbs. Overall I am glad I went with this bike for now.

I've been riding Beta 300's since 2015 and in 2022 I got 200 Race edition. I love the light lively feel of the 200 and would not like to trade that for some off idle lugability of the 300. I weigh 160 so that helps the 200. If I weighed more, probably a 300.

Defo need to see that in the future ! I am currently running a exc125 (old) and a Beta 125 racing. Both excellent bikes even if very different. The one issue I find with small bikes is on big steep and long hill climbs (or shorter with no run-up) where it can be a bit more complex to keep the steep as you are missing the HP to do so. You need to make it up with momentum but sometimes it isn"t enough. Other than that I love the light one finger clutch, and coming from DH Mtb those bikes feel very much like my Mtbs so I love them.

Off couse apart from the technical specs, how do they behave in techical terrain?! It would be nice to see you riding a xtrainer and compare it to the 200rr! Especially with that 200rr, since its has the lowboy kit. Meaning it will be closer to the the xtrainer in clearence and we could see the difference bettween engine and manobrability... Hope you can get your hands on one xtrainer!!

I don't know, Rich. Your expertise would far outweigh my observations, but everything spoken about in this video points to the best solution for this type of riding to be electric. Reciprocating mass? None. Incredible bottom end and torque: unmatched. Light weight and flick ability? Got it in spades. I have taken my Electric Motion Escape on four hour rides of nastiness and it is an absolute marvel. Cutting through the forest where there are no trails to get through broken sections of established areas? No problem. No heat. No stalling. No problem. And that is all done with trials tires. Really the only downside I've experiences is that they aren't great over 35 mph. But you hardly ever do that in technical riding.

The 150 has a tsp ecu, the bike appears to be more refined...Clutch/Ability to not stall/Design/layout/Durability/Generates similar torque at mid to upper revs. It also double blimps logs better, the motor revs up quick and the tpi/tsp holds power well without stalling. Just what Ive noticed. Looking forward to hearing Rich's perspective!

The Beta 200 and Sherco 125. I am 5.5 tall and weigh 150 so a short light guy. I prefer light enduro and also like the motocross tracks. Obviously as a hobby. Wich one would you pick? Thank you very much for your work. Love your videos.😊

I ride a '23 YZ125x is some gnarly east coast mountain singletrack and love it. Has all the power I need. I do not ride hard Enduro per say, but very tight technical singletrack

I'd love to see a small bore shootout! I spend most of the time down low lugging single track stuff and no way do I use all the 300 power. Still, would love to see more on the smaller bores.

Hi Rich, I have a 22 Beta 200rr in FL and a 22 KTM 250 XC-W in CT, totally different terrain so I enjoy both, but don't even try to compare them. I'm thinking about replacing the 250 (it's great) with a 2024 300 XC-W or a 2024, 200 RR Race, so I'm extremely interested in your comparison! I agree with your fun factor vs power theory and like you, I'm tall 6'1 but weigh 207 lbs w/o gear. I have a feeling the 200 can do the technical stuff great but am concerend that I might have to gear it low and that it will be screaming on road sections. Do The Comparison Please ( technical riding and on a track would be fantastic) Do it!!

I would love to see your take on a featherweight comparison. I am a C class Vet rider in hare scramble racing in the southeast. I normally race a yz250fx and rode a friends YZ125X on a trail and was blown away by the light weight and steering. I found after riding the yz125x it taught me clutch and throttle control better than anything I have ever tried. I noticed after riding the yz125 I was faster on my yz250fx. they are great training tools and a ton of fun.

I'm on a 250FX also, great bike. Got my 14yr old a used 22' KTM 125XC that had the 150 kit installed. Once I got the jetting sorted I find myself gravitating to the 150 for its agility. Compared to the 250fx it only makes power in a small rpm range but it sure is fun trying to keep it there.

I ride a well sorted KTM 200SX set up for woods. Most of my riding buddies are on 300s and I've never felt like I needed more bike. Also having ridden most iterations of the KTM 300 I've found few that I would consider trading my 200 for.

You should try the Reiju 200. Just rode one a few weeks ago and although the last time I rode a Beta 200 it was December, the Reiju felt a little stronger from what I remember. Seat height is similar to my Sherco 250SE Factory with a factory low seat. The Reiju has the KYB suspension as well. I really liked it.

Unfortunately the Rieju 200 is unavailable in Spain. I plan on buying a Rieju 300 as I will only purchase a bike with KYB suspension. I really liked my KTM 300 but dialing in the suspension was a mission.

The 200's are intriguing, especially in specific riding situations. I jumped on my friends KTM 200 and rode it for a while and it had pretty good lugability. I think for having one bike for everything, the 300 is still king. Being able to lug it down on a hill climb when you may get off line and then having the juice to roll on the throttle and finish the hill still on the pegs is really nice. I know a top rider could do this on the 200 but it's probably more achievable on the 300 for most guys. In Hawaii, it is so slick sometimes, the lug of the 300 really helps. That and a Kenda Knarly 140 at zero PSI, haha.

The small-bore shootout would be cool. I've yet to watch or read anyone that hasn't been very impressed with the 200rr. I'm on the fence with the 200rr, 300rr and xtrainer for the spring. Getting away from a single do it all dual sport bike in favor of an adventure bike and woods scalpel. Trying to figure out which Beta...

I know Yamaha’s YZ-X models are passé, but it’d be pretty cool to see the YZ125/250X compared to the smaller offerings from Europe. I know they’re missing an extra gear and hydraulic clutch, but is that such a disadvantage that I should overlook the price disparity and robust dealer network? Nearest KTM/Husky/Gasgas dealer is 4 hours away, and Beta/Sherco are both over 1000 miles away.

I'm an ex very competitive mx racer. I got in to scrambles/enduro and bought a yz250x. I did the must do mods such as apex head, governor mods, gearing, jetting dialed etc etc. It was still just "too much bike" for me in the tight technical stuff... It made hill climbs a laugh though. But, I bought a 200rr this spring, and immediately gelled with the bike out of the box, for the reasons mentioned in the video... It's easy to handle, no surprises, and the small size is a huge help. When I got the beta home and parked it next to the YZ I couldn't believe the size difference.

What if you could have both? Say you have a ‘23 Beta 300 rr and you want to get a ‘24 Beta 200rr (I personally would go with the standard rr vs. the racing editions as I prefer the new ZF Sachs shocks to the KYBs but that's just me)? If you had both, which one would you bring to what terrain?
