Our neighbor stole our mailbox and address (for context he actually built the mailbox for us like 20 years ago so him warning us beforehand would’ve made it somewhat reasonable apart from the address) and when we confronted him about it he said it was his mailbox and that meant it was also his address on the post, we of course had no words and my grandpa told the post office about it and they contacted the police after he refused to listen to them, long story short they didn’t do anything so now we have 2 houses with the same address right next to each other meaning almost every time we get a new delivery driver they deliver our packages to the wrong house and we have to explain the situation to them and they are usually dumbfounded, this has been an ongoing problem for about 5 years, he also has a camera pointing at our house that he basically watches all day, I’m used to it at this point but I’m pretty sure this is definitely not normal or at least I hope it’s not because I might actually go ballistic if I move and have another neighbor like him, sorry for the rant but this has been building up for a while and I don’t like talking about it in person because it frustrates me.

By grinding the profile of the blade instead of forging it, you introduce potential stress fractures. Neat lookin decorative piece tho

You can tell this was always going to be a decorative piece. No point in forging for decoration easier to just cut out.

No that's false cutting out a shape doesn't weaken or introduce stress points. Forging these details would require cutting the steel with a sharp chisel anyways, so in both cases you're cutting the steel. But it doesn't change anything, modern steels are homogenous. Forging is mostly for saving up material by getting a shape without removing steel, but he doesn't really forge in his videos, he makes a big spatula and then cuts a blade shape into it...

Grinding the profile doesn't weaken it. The particular design he created has potential stress risers where the slits are at the base of the blade. When you forge steel, you create deformations in the crystallin structure of the steel and the heating process causes grain growth. You can do a normalizing process that refines the grain.
