Pantera had much more groove and they added swing/shuffle style with this. Must say I like the old Fear Factory of 1992-1997 the most.

In Metal that isn't Death Metal maybe, otherwise not in the slightest. We've got tons of people who school the hell outta Ray Herrara, despite the stereotypes, not all death metal is only blastbeats... now much is, but Morbid Angel, and Nile drums are wayyyyy better and they have grooves... occasionally

I saw them open for Type O in the 90s at the Warehouse in Toronto and again at the Opera House. Incredible shows, they never disappoint.
This is a great album. I'm glad Dino brought Mike in again to redo the drum tracks instead of a machine.

For me the control of the feet is more impressive than the speed
Fear Factory has the tightest instrument playing in their sound that Metal has to offer. Their new vocalist Milo, seems to be a Great fit for the band. Always enjoy watching your drumming abilities Samus.💀🤘
I don't think there is very much that Samus can't play! Dude's an animal
Those doubles on the bass drum are so sick.
This dude has a killer beard and a killer drum technique, effortless looking yet powerful. Great job man.
Chills, just straight chills my dude. If you watch the visualized video for this song, on the right arm of the F are a group of numbers which are actually the date that Fear Factory formed. In a way I believe this song is a farewell to the FF family by Burton as he embraces his future projects. Love this whole album and have been slamming my ears with it since the very moment it released.
Fear factory is one my favourite bands and You fucking killed it man, great work and most of all, badass cover. Praise from England 🏴 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Love this song. ABSOLUTELY nailed it 🤘♥
Definitly my fav of Samus, we can feel the energy and the love for the band

I knew there was a reason I liked Samus so much (other than his wicked sense of humour and wicked beard). He is a fellow FF fan 🙂
God damn it, I am so glad this video exists. I somehow forgot this album existed until just this weekend. Pretty sure this is my favorite track and I really wanted to get a better understanding of how the drumming worked. Thanks Samus.
LOVE the way the Mesh heads show up on camera. Looks and sounds amazing. GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS SAMUS 👏👍
Hell yeah! FF is back🤘 Been waiting...as long as the rest of you for this album.
Seriously, Mike Heller puts in amazing work on that new album. One of the best FF albums drum-wise, period.
Hell yeah! Nice job brosif! Been jamming and singing this one religiously since it came out! It's a damn good one!
Samus, Fear Factory has always been one of my favorite bands, I'm stoked that you feel the same brother. Most people outside drummers fail to understand. The pedal used in Fear Factory is a dual-motion pedal, one strike down one strike back up. A pedal I'll never be able to afford for sure.
@66Samus
Жыл бұрын
I've never seen any Fear Factory drummer using that pedal actually lol
Holy shit did not expect that kick pattern at 4:47 that shit came in hard!
How is it that such an absolute beast of a drummer can look so cool calm and collected throughout an entire song?
Mike Hellar took this band past the point that I feel Raymond could have. but in the 90s Raymond was a pioneer for keeping that double bass on point with Dino. Definitely one of my top 5s. Killed it Samus. Perfection!!!!!!!

I've noticed over the last few years that a lot of metal drummers play with a more open handed style. I'm guessing there most be some sort of benefit to doing that when playing more complex parts.

I don't wish to speak for anyone else, but personally I find that an openhanded french grip really helps to add power to things like blastbeats.
