FDR and the role of president

In 1933, during the Great Depression, newly-elected President Franklin Delano Roosevelt confronted 25% unemployment, sweeping poverty, and the collapse of the banking system. His response would reshape the way the country thought about presidential leadership, and democracy itself. CBS News' John Dickerson talks with Roosevelt scholars Jonathan Alter, David Woolner and Susan Dunn about FDR and the presidency during crisis and war.

We had a chance, bernie sanders literally ran on a platform based upon the second bill of rights proposed by FDR, which he would have gotten done himself if he didn't die after being elected for the FOURTH time. We've lost so much since those times. Yes, there have been tremendous improvements & advancements in so many different fields, not discounting that, but we've lost ground on certain basic & elemental qualities that go into maintaining a nation's morality & decency, including dependence on, and recognition of, the Creator, from whom all our rights as human beings originate. We've lost any semblance of politeness & civility. We've completely forgotten the vital concept of E Pluribus Unum, which is light-years more important than any currently-existing political party. Thank you FDR & Mr. Churchill---together you saved western civilization---and look what we've made of it. I ashamedly bow my head in sadness, as should we all.

Grand Rapids, Michigan clinic Cherry Health, a 501(c)3 Federally Qualified Health Center, came under fire Wednesday after Project Veritas published a video that appears to show the organization and CBS News used “fake patients” during a report about coronavirus testing. Now, a current employee who spoke on condition of anonymity and a former employee of the clinic who worked there for six years but was fired under questionable circumstances exclusively tells, allegations of politicking, retribution, and corruption go far beyond a staged news report. The employee said the then-communications director for Cherry Health, Tiffany Aldrich, was contacted to host the event, “and she told them no. You can’t hold political rallies here. That’s not allowable in the scope of things we do here as a federally funded health center.” The employee further alleged “they didn’t like that answer, so they went around” Aldrich to CEO Tasha Blackmon, “and Tasha allowed the rally to take place.” “As a result of not initially allowing this rally to take place, Tiffany was fired,” the current employee said of Aldrich, who had been with the organization for more than six years. “She was fired for denying the Biden rally.”

And he was our nation's first wheelchair bound President. Modern doctors believe his health issue was misdiagnosed as polio, yet for his faults, this was a man the country needed. No one ever claimed to require sainthood as a qualification for Commander in Chief. I would take FDR over Dump, I mean, Trump anytime! 🇵🇷🇺🇸🤣🤣🤣

To all those with selective memory & mired in rationalizations: FDR ALSO IMPRISONED 120,000 INNOCENT PEOPLE, WHO WERE ALSO US CITIZENS, FOR 4 YEARS, IN CONCENTRATION CAMPS, & TOOK THEIR PROPERTIES, BECAUSE OF THEIR ANCESTRY!...AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT ATROCITIES OTHER 'LEADERS' DID DURING THE SAME ERA...OR ANY OTHER ERA! NONE OF IT EXCUSES THAT ACT! PERIOD. This report should've included that, to be truly fair & accurate...which I expected from a reporter of John Dickerson's caliber & integrity, but was very disappointed he compromised it for this incomplete report.

-Passed the NFA (the first amendment that restricted/regulated our second amendment rights) -Arrested & detained Japanese/Asian American's without an investigation/interrogation, and forgoing their rights - including the right to an attorney (all constitutional violations) because we were at war with Japan and apparently that makes presumptions and racism acceptable. -Created the failed social security system that led us to the current welfare state we're in now that bribes freeloaders who never paid in with the working class's tax money in return for their vote and complete servitude. (Meanwhile, the people who did pay in will have to fight like mad with attorney fees to receive these "benefits" if and when ever they need them.) All these policies started the snowball process that lead to less freedom for us. FDR was a communist who observed how the Nazi's and fascists rose to power so quickly and so he copied their ideas to eradicate our freedoms and constitutional rights. He also copied their use of propaganda and used it to garner support for his unscrupulous ideas (this is something still being done today, and has put the integrity of the press/news/media into serious question). Even these videos seem to condition/prime viewers into thinking he was a saint by talking about him in a favorable tone and only mentioning the "good" he did. You could make Manson look good using these manipulative tactics.

Roosevelts New Deals essentially paved the path on what your modern America looks like, Do you have a problem with people running around with less firearms, The Japanese Internment camps sure I'll give you a point there, there is no disputing that it was a violation of rights, but I ask you one thing does everything you wrote on that list outweigh the Great things he has done.

This is soft core propaganda. You would think that any respectable news organization, especially one that want's their audience to believe that they are objective, would include an economist that explained the harm that Roosevelt's programs did to the economy and the country. Roosevelt's programs extended the depression. As the piece mentions, WWII lifted the U.S. out of the depression. These days, the network news divisions are just extensions of their entertainment divisions.
