Actually, once again CBS is giving you a snapshot in time as opposed to the whole story. Lincoln’s ideas about the war and slavery evolved as time moved forward. So, this was true for a time, but by 1864 he was firmly fixed on blacks being citizens. Against the tide, before he died, he got measures past which gave limited rights of suffrage to blacks. So, actually, he changed his mind from his earlier years.

Ishmael Moh -Beside being the President of all of the United States at a time of incredible challenge, people forget that this guy, before the war, debated for three hours the evil of slavery and that black slaves had “the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...” I think revisionists purposefully forget to include the volumes of writings, debates, and interviews, and cherry pick the one or two incidents when he was frustrated with members of his cabinet and making a point beyond the immediate idea of slavery, as he did when he made his remarks about saving the Union. If you read that passage in context, he is making a broader point that if the Union was lost nothing else mattered. But, modern partisans extract the slavery part of that passage to mean that Lincoln ultimately didn’t care about the slaves, which couldn’t be further from the truth. All you have to do is listen to Fredrick Douglas talk about how he treated him and how it was different than the average person of that time. The truth is in his actions. He freed the slaves, drove it through the states, welcomed blacks into his home, and got limited suffrage for blacks before he was murdered for it. I think the verdict is in; he cared.

That's David McCullough, to you Rose. His pinky has more knowledge about America, how it works, and what's good for it than 90% of our population combined. He's literally the greatest President biographer, scholar, and historian alive. Yet you have so little self awareness about this country's history, that you judge him for a 20 second clip. Believe it or not, your comment on youtube that almost no one else sees, will be forgotten so quick, that it's like your contribution didn't even exist in the first place. Yet David's work will stay, it will stay in libraries, museums, schools, and minds for millenniums. If my response to the educated opinion from someone as intelligent as him on the subject, was to mock him and then post emojis in a youtube comment section. I would seriously re-think my entire life because I would have the realization that I have such little respect for education, intelligence, and understanding, that I would break down and realize my life was wasted. Except I don't have to do that, because that's not me. That's you Rosemary.

BoppoB I’m not convinced that her comment was meant to mock him, nor did I get the impression that the emojis were used to laugh at him, rather than with him. Of course, I could be wrong. But it was certainly a jab at his unapologetic straightforwardness. Whether it was a friendly jab, or one made by an ideological opponent, it wasn’t an attack, especially by todays social media standards. For the record, I agree with David’s assessment on both Adams and Trump.

Once when the topic of making changes to U.S. currency came up, my thought was that founding fathers should be the only ones who appear on our dollar bills. You can't go wrong, because they're the ones who started it. If this was the case, Washington would still be on the $1 bill, maybe Jefferson on the $5, Hamilton would stay on the $10, perhaps Madison on the $20 and ADAMS on the $50, and Franklin would stay on the $100.

Can't say FDR guided us through the Depression. His first term was brilliant with ending the banking crisis and immediate action with dealing with Depression. But his second term follies erased many of this gains and if it wasn't for war clouds brewing in Europe at the end of his second term, his presidency would all together be judged differently then it is today.

Like, before Trump, there pieces on Sunday Morning and 60 minutes every single year that criticized or shined light on something the president did. Yes, even President Obama. George Bush before him, Clinton before him too. Saying 2 sentences doesn't make CBS "Anti-Trump" for having independent people come on and talk their opinion. Get out of your echo chamber for once and see the irony in this segment having 2 Scholars and Historians talking about Trump being a bad thing for America, then having a Billionaire saying "Hey I'm not so sure hes so bad". Its almost like its hitting us over the head with it.

I think it should be investigated if the American states now and then are legislated with the Bible written as a story. The word immunity (Latin immunitas, freedom from obligations to the state) comes from a religious revelation from the middle ages, most likely from a pope to become lawless, and which has since been rewritten into sovereign, absolute, and qualified immunity (legally, cannot be prosecuted for criminal act) to the president, senate (origin, the Roman Empire), congress, cabinet, and Supreme Court for law decisions and actions. The political exploitation of the vital ecosystem has now led to forest death, how will it affect people's economy, etc. I think The Democratic party can be a consciously misleading party name with all parties belonging to The Republican party, as current political democracy and socialism can only be about going more toward the middle, eg. The Democrats for law decisions and actions, even with the misleading word professional politician. I think the people should consider voting for a real democratic party with an independent state formation to investigate if the president, parties, senate (origin, the Roman Empire), congress, cabinet, and Supreme Court overall may be guilty of a violation of democratic rights with misleading elections, economic crimes, violation of human rights with class society for adults and children, and serious environmental crime (force majeure).
