When I was learning to drive my dad taught me that as soon as you hear a siren, you look to see where its coming from and pull over ASAP.

That is a good piece of advice but no one out there cares anymore it's like when the fire trucks or whatever is out on the road with lights and siren going its like thats the signal to start playing chicken

Its a good hint. Pull over when you can or just get out of the way. If you have to skip a red light (if its the safest way to get out the way) you do it thats it :)

8:50 When you have things like that where are people going to go? You have 3 full lanes of traffic so you can't just "move over" you have side walks full of pedestrians so you can't just "move over" up onto the side walk like literally where are they going to go? NYC has a really bad traffic problem people can not just move over in the city to get out of the way you have traffic backed for miles on a good day and people flooding the side walks it's literally impossible to go anywhere fast.

I'm from the UK and just love how much NOISE they make! That winding-up siren is the best sound ever along with the horn! Love it

the pigeons are the only creatures smart enough to get out of the way..

Many active FDNY members have served in the U.S. Military since 9-11 and also have family members serving in the military. Many FDNY companies flew flags from the rigs prior to 9-11

I have only been to N Y C one time and had the pleasure to see rescue one working the streets. As a retired firefighter I can tell you one thing they got the right stuff.

No one seems to care that these vehicles are responding to an emergency. Groups of people just walking in front of the trucks and other motorists don't want to move. Lives are at risk if these guys can't get around. Is there no law or requirement for you to move for an emergency vehicle? In the UK roads part like the red sea when blue lights are sirens are on.

Notts Cop There is a law, it's failure to yield to emergency vehicles, but there's not much a cop can do other than pull over 1 car out of 30 or 40 that don't move, and that's only if the cop is around in a car.

Notts Cop I saw videos in Germany when emergency vehicles with sirens activated, the entire freeway of cars simultaneously clear a single lane in a maneuver called rettungsgasse. In NYC we do have fire lanes, people still pull over but depending on what part of city its in, the time of the day and amount of traffic present, it is simply impossible to do so without waiting for the traffic ahead to clear or the pedestrians to pass.

There's a lot of traffic in NYC and not a lot of room for them to go. NYC is the most densely populated major city in the US. NYC is 304 square miles (489Km) with a population of 8.4 Million. That's not counting the many many tourists that visit NYC every day. There are roughly 27,000 people per square mile (1.6Km) living in NYC. So yeah, lots of people lol.

Came back here to see some of Acepilot's older videos before GTA V, was not disappointed.

That opening clip, with the engine responding through heavy traffic, with air horn blaring, reminds me of trying to plow snow in a Minnesota blizzard. New York drivers have a level of obstinacy and indifference that is astonishing. The Russians could be carpet bombing Rockefeller Center, and NYC drivers would just sit there in traffic, ignoring it all.

Its just a standard siren with either a foot pedal or button to allow it to be operated kind of like a federal Q if they don't want to actually turn it on, could be of any brand, federal, code 3, whelen, they all have standard sirens capable of that.
