Finished up building my FMS FCX18 LC80. I had this for a while to look it over for potential mods, and I managed to design a few things after I stripped it down for a closer look.
The main part I came up with with the help of Injora's High Clearance Links was a High Clearance Trans Plate that gains you 11mm of ground clearance.
The stock links are strait and actually mounted under the rails so sliding them up wasn't viable, but using the Injora links in a slightly different orientation allow me to clearance the frame aswell as the ground for a win/ win scenario.
Also made mounts that allow the Injora V2 TRX4m Bronco Bumpers to be mounted. I finished literally hours before Injora dropped some all metal tube style bumpers for it, but I say the more metal options we have, the better. I also think these look WAY more fitting than a tube style.
So I got it out for a mini crawl session on my rock pile, which is actually pretty knarly given that it's got huge gaps and sharp edges.
LC80 did awesome with the portals tandem with my skid. For an added challenge, I tossed an FCX24 Smasher open diff in the front...
Yes... you read correctly... It did all this with an open diff in the front! A testimate to the chassis design, and I think the rig not getting bellied as often allowing it to keep both front tires down made it pull those lines off. Needless to say, it was fun, but originally; I assumed it would just be a sweet overlander. Today however, showed me I can get down on the rocks too, so I'll go ahead and toss a locked spool up front for the next crawl.
