FBC Archivist | Simulacrum
Mr. Door said that there are many worlds. Some on top of one another, some side by side, and some inside one another. Dylan Faden had knowledge of the nature of his world. A game. That there was a world outside where we the player were playing his story. The barrier between fiction and reality are thinner than we realize.
It is well known that the Mail Tubes inside the Oldest House send mail to other realities. What if they ended up here in our world? The following files were discovered inside a familiar orange Tube at my local Credit Union. I'll be documenting the contents in this Archivist series.

that was one helluva monologue, and the fallen chair was also super effective. Phillip's grizzly demise was one of the most visceral character deaths in a video game that I've experienced (and I'm not just saying that because The Former is my favorite boss in this game). R.I.P. Phillip.

Hypothesis 4: the Simulacrum's changing of forms is not random or reactive, but deliberate and chosen. Each time it has changed shape, it does do for a specific but unknown to us purpose. It also occurs to me that the Simulacrum has not changed form since the beginning of our video surveillance, and who knows if it requires the ability to change shape, if it is hurting by staying in the form of a water cooler, if it is perhaps even angry?

Makes us question if there is conscious intent or simply force of nature. If as some claim they desire to be worshipped that implies consciousness.

I'd totally forgotten about this altered item. The name gave me goosebumps coz I've read some post-modernist philosophy and Jean Baudrillard's concepts(phases of the image, simulation, simulacra, sign value, hyperreality etc). Remedy-verse discusses philosophy of reality through their games and its good to see a philosophy related easter egg kinda name of an altered item. I loved the rumination part of the video the most. In just a few words, you captured the philosophy behind the simulacrum, its relation to one's own identity and its context within the game. Great questions !! Amazing video as always !! All voice actors in the video are super cool !!

This rumination was a lot of fun. Oddly the word is a kn idea I've intuited for a while but never had a word to describe it. Researching this Altered Item gave me the answer by accident. And thank you! I'm certainly no VA but I've been trying to be more serious in the performances.

Amazing Video. The FBC Archivist is one of my favourite ongoing video series! Also the Simulacrum being shown to us in the game reminds me of a Quote from Uncle Iroh from ATLA "Water is the element of change." 🤭

Another episode. Splendid! The deeper the isolation, the larger are the cracks in our Archivist's mind. Wonder when we will have a breakpoint?

Maybe it is some commentary on imposter syndrome, Jessie certainly had it in spades as would many of the surviving FBC employees shunted into new positions... Or I am postulating and ruminating just because it is an entertaining way to while away a few minutes that may or may not be spent on a porcelain throne pretending to be a chair.

Lmao the porcelain god that is a throne. Yeah Jesse certainly has an imposter syndrome. Alan does too to a different degree and for different reasons. One could argue Jesse's entire arc is overcoming her imposter syndrome.

I love your creative video ideas, as someone who does also creative work in terms of writing short stories I understand that it must be exciting for you to put something out of your imagination onto script. I am waiting for your next book club episode and left a comment there, but I would like to ask here again, since the video is newer. Would you consider discussions with your viewers? I left a lot of material in the comments and it would be a blast talking about it with you. For reference, I am a german hobby author and let's player who writes stories that go into the same direction as Remedy games. I also let's played them on my channel. I love the weird and strange and put that into my writing. I also published my first short story anthology a few months ago and there are some audio books floating around on KZread. Maybe you are interested in discussing your next book/movie/game with me in your next book club? My english is decent I guess, would be awesome!

Often I find myself wondering "if this Altered Item was bound, what kind of ability it would provide" and for this one...I guess it'd serve to duplicate equipment? I don't imagine it can turn into disposable things like ammunitions and supplies, not to mention it doesn't seem like it can mimic animals (maybe it can plants though?) so I guess gear and perhaps context-sensitive uses are what's left for it... Overall not particularly impressive, but if Dr. Ash has taught me anything is that no Item is useless if you're creative.

when i played control there was a water cooler right next to the file for the simulacrum, so i shot it and then i think i destroyed the rest of the room it was in to see if i found it, here's an idea i just came up with, the simulacrum represents the oldest house, or at least what it was turned into, all of the item's it can turn into are regular office or lab equipment, but the mail tube is something more particular to the oldest house, now 1 definition of simulacrum is "an image or representation of someone or something" & another is "an unsatisfactory imitation or substitute." so what if it's a representation of the oldest house, which itself is a simulacrum of an office and/or human made building. 6:09 or are they the same, we all are real in some way, we all live, we all change, but the body and mind never change, just the way they are presented and used, no matter how you speak, how you present yourself, you can be starved, beaten, ripped into pieces, change your body, learn, forget, fall into depression, stand on the edge of ending it all, but no matter what, you are you, you will always be truly happy doing and being what you love doing and being no matter what, there is only one of what you are exactly and that is you, what are you, well only you know, you may relapse into something you never wanted to be again, but that doesn't mean you're a different person. now off of the deep philosophical mumbo jumbo dose anyone else think theres some parallels to the walking suit fra and the way thomas zane appears, both are suit's used to go to what are essentially opposites of each other, the sea and space and finally nice video, the ruminations section seem's like it truly is ian starting to loose his grip and falling into true paranoia, as if SHUM wasn't already bad enough, if the simulacrum causes this then ian truly will go insane as in i think we have a majority of the OOP's to go and i think he'll be falling into a paranoid frenzy when we get to the projector.

So this may be nuts and sounds almost like gibberish, but what if AI53-KE is the reification of the abstract sensation or phenomenon of feeling the past shift? That is, being absolutely certain that an event occurred or some statement about the past was true, finding out that the event happened differently or did not happen or the statement was always false, and then being unable to find evidence to support your previous understanding of what had happened in the past?
