People really forget how other worldly good Peyton Manning was. He’s the only 5x MVP in NFL history. For perspective, no one else has more than 3. There’s never going to be another QB like him because he legitimately mastered playing QB. All the audibles and signals at the line of scrimmage, no one else does it like he did.

@@tempest20000 Furthermore, I think every year an AFC team and NFC team from the division they played two years ago should play each other and the particular match ups would be based on finish within their division last year. In 2020 it would be: -AFC North teams vs NFC South teams -AFC South teams vs NFC East teams -AFC East teams vs NFC North teams -AFC West teams vs NFC West teams Why? Because each of these divisions played two years ago in 2018 (and will play in two years in 2022). That way you get variety in terms of match ups where we can get good match ups that don’t take four years to pass. If this system were utilized, the following matchups would occur: -Ravens vs Saints -Texans vs Eagles -Patriots vs Packers -Chiefs vs 49ers These teams would play because of the previously mentioned division matchups and all these teams were the division winners. And so it goes accordingly with the second, third, and fourth placed teams regarding matchups. What are your thoughts on that?

First it was manning vs favre now it is Rodgers vs Rivers. This matchup will always be a legendary QB matchup
The thing everyone loves to romanticize about Favre was that “Gunslinger” mentality. That never made him great. His great period was 95-98 and he was playing within Mike Holmgren’s West Coast system. He controlled Favre and kept him from making to many bone headed mistakes. Once Holmgren leaves, he starts making stupid mistakes. 6 INTs against the Rams, 02 Wild Card, 4th and 26, 04 Wild Card and can’t forget the 07 NFC Championship game. Favre really needed someone to hold him at that high level but he only had that for 7 seasons. Imagine how great he would have been if Holmgren had stayed.

@@bootitup6927 I’m not blaming him for Sharper and Barnett hanging WAAAY to far back and letting Mitchell get the first down. No, I’m blaming him for the awful airball he threw right to Brian Dawkins on his very first overtime play. That lost them the game.
@crossbonez1028
3 жыл бұрын
I disagree. I believe it WAS the gunslinger mentality that made him great. He threw 50/50 balls far too often...but unlike most qbs, it worked most of the time. He was so unpredictable with his reads. He seriously played like he was playing in the backyard with some neighborhood friends. If you takeaway his “gunslinger” plays, then your taking away 90% of Brett Favres highlights. He was a risk taker and that’s what made him great. But being this gunslinger also came with the bad
@tempest20000
3 жыл бұрын
@@crossbonez1028 but he didn’t throw a lot of those 50/50 balls in the 90s. Holmgren flat out wouldn’t let him. He’d bench him and put Mark Brunell or Jim McMahon in if Favre threw multiple of those. It worked in the 90s cause he didn’t do them often. He started doing it more in the 00s and sometimes it would work. But that was in the regular season. Come playoff time, this was the time to be serious. Time to make plays. He definitely made plays. To the wrong guys. In the 90s, I feel every post season failure the Packers had (except the 95 Championship game) weren’t Brett’s fault. 93 and 94, they flat out lost to the better team. 97 in the Super Bowl, Holmgren didn’t call a good game and they went into that game way to overconfident. Even Reggie White said that later. 98, they got hosed on that Jerry Rice fumble non call. Come the 00s tho, Favre is making stupid play after stupid play in the playoffs. Those were team losses or team faults like in the 90s. They had a good enough team to win a Super Bowl in the early 00s. But Favre kept blowing it. That gunslinger mentality got the better of him in the 00s and it hurts his legacy to me.

@@Knightmessenger Every Super Bowl since XXXIV has been in widescreen 16:9, and all have been in HD 720p or 1080i besides XXXVI. Fox aired that game in 16:9 but 480p. Fox didn’t go HD until 2004. Fox aired some games in widescreen 480p that weren’t HD. For the regular season, CBS aired 3 regular season games in HD in 1998. They aired no HD games in the regular season from 1999-2002, before airing 3 HD games per week from 2003-2006. CBS aired 5-6 HD games a week in 2007 and aired all games in HD since 2008. Meanwhile Fox aired 5-6 HD games a week from 2004-2007 before going all HD since 2008. Fox also aired many games from 2004-2007 in Widescreen but 480p SD like they did for Super Bowl XXXVI. And as I stated, ESPN is all HD since 03, NBC and NFL network since 06, and ABC was all HD for 1999, SBXXXVII and 2003-2005. A big problem is that for some reason, many places like NFL Network reruns and NFL Throwback uploads seem to use the SD masters for HD games aired from 1998-2007 about 90% of the time.

This is low key one of the best channels on KZread. They edit the games down to just the action so you can watch all the classics without having to devote 3 1/2 hours of your time to watch the full game. I wish they had more 90s Buffalo Bills games and generally older games from the 60s-80s, but that's my only gripe. Keep doing you, NFL throwback!
I wish we could go back to 04 quarterback times. You had Brady,Manning,Farve,Brees with newcomers Rivers,Big Ben and little Manning in there rookie years. That was before the nfl turned into college football and had power running and you could actually hit offensive players.
8 MVPs between these two QBs.
Love the footage. Collinsworth sliding in and antagonizing Aikman is pure butter. Manning was threading the needle surgically. These were the good old days of Madden and 2k football. I actually enjoy Buck always mentioning no flags. I think if the NFL hears how many times an announcer has to verify with no flag, they understand how it takes away from the initial emotion of the result of thr play.

Manning is the true GOAT. Won two Super Bowls with two different teams. Is 3 - 1 against Brady in the AFC's version of the Super Bowl. And he throws long touchdown passes and makes it look easy, never needed a Randy Moss to do it. Peyton Manning is my GOAT. Brady overrated
@Riles3152

Brady never actually won a SB with Randy Moss or Wes Welker. His best WR's that he actually won rings with was Gronk and Edelman. Gronk is arguably the best TE of all-time. Edelman might not have lasted more than 5 years if he didn't come into that Patriot system led by Brady. Also, Manning is unquestionably a top 5-10 all-time QB, but Marvin Harrison was a HOF and one of the best WR of his era, which included Moss and T.O. He also had a near HOF in Reggie Wayne and a very good TE in Dallas Clark. He also was able to hand the ball off to a hof RB in Edgerin James. Again, Manning's career speaks for itself but his cupboard was far from bare during his prime years.

Manning is the most pure pocket passer to ever play. He is a true field general. Any team he touched instantly turned to gold. He had a bad habit of throwing picks in the post season though. His achilles heel. He was a lame duck in his last Superbowl. I will always hate him for having my Chiefs number, but i cannot deny him his respect. Manning is a top 5 QB no question.

@@mingywantwingy1379 Don' t forget Dan Marino. I can' t decide who was the better passer he or Manning. But I' m more with QB who can run and scramble too.

How is brady overrated?
Passing of the torch the best quarterback of the 1990s vs the best quarterback of the 2000s
That old school Astroturf was miserable to play on, but I love how it looks, so clean
I actually remember watching this when I was 9. Not the specifics just that it was a shoot out between Favre and Manning and that we won!
OH MA GOD IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS THANK YOU!!! The GOAT vs the gunslinger

Is it possible you could do the 2009 AFC championship? I saw someone reccomend this a couple days ago and that was a good game. High quality content btw.

Best channel on KZread hands down
Imagine owning any of these 3 Colts WRs in fantasy this year. I can't remember the last time you could get legit WR1 production from 3 guys on the same team.
I scored so many points in fantasy football in this game that my league changed the rules mid-season lol... There was no rule against using a QB as a flex player so I had Manning, Favre, Stokley and Javon Walker.
Miss these colts jerseys.
Since you posted a crazy shootout for this one do you have the defensive struggle that was the Bucs/Rams 99 NFC title game? Or did you already post that one before
This game was incredible.
Favre was so great, he made those around him play a higher level, even opposing teams.. the only 3x consecutive league MVP at a time when the league was full of talent and you could actually hit the quarterback
Classic stuff 🤙🤙😎
Had Reggie Wayne and javon walker in my lineup that day - still cheesin 😁
This was the first NFL game I ever went to. My uncle played for Green Bay (Ben Steele) I was 10 years old.
The best QB duel ive ever witnessed.
