So glad that you finally mentioned Ras Kass - Soul On Ice. This album gets so overlooked by quite a lot of hip hop heads. This album and Chino XL - Here To Save You All are my personal favorite hip hop albums to come out of 1996 beacuse both of them lyrically were untouchable. The song Riot with Ras Kass off of Here To Save You All introduced me to Ras Kass because I was a fan of Chino XL first. Once again, great list Beezy!

Never heard Below the Heavens as the underground illmatic but man thats an excellent analogy. That whole time period (06-11) in the underground has classics on top of classics.

i really feel like the underground illmatic title should really go to madvillainy

I think he meant more of the impact it had on the casual fan. Don't get me wrong Madvilliany had a crazy impact too but Below the Heavens introduced a new generation to underground hiphop

Nice perspective man. Yeah comin from a tru head like u means a lot. We come from the same generation I think. I started to listen to hip hop music in 1987 when I was 8 years old when there was no rap category in the music stores. You just went to the pop section and searched for the artists u was lookin for by first letter... ie, run dmc "R" section lol.... I think vanilla ice/hammer battle popuarlized rap music and made it a category in the music stores lol .... Interested to see ur top 5 for the next vid!

this top 10 is looking solid, ras kass gets so overlooked. only album here that wouldn't also make my top 10 is straight outta compton. i'm 22 and it's a little too dated sounding to be a favourite of mine. still fun to listen to though. also my favourite pac album to listen to is killuminati tbh but i do think me against the world is his best album if we're looking at it objectively as possible

not saying it should be on the list but I feel Dred Scott - Breakin Combs is an under-rated West coast album, released in 1994 at the time when jazz rap was the thing, you'll definitely enjoy it
