So technically Pikachu wasn’t part of the original starter Pokémon when the first games (Red and Blue) came out in 1996. Pikachu only became popular when the show came out in 1997 and then everyone wanted a Pikachu and you can only obtain one until you get to later games by capturing one through sheer luck. Nonetheless, Pikachu is also one of my favorite Pokémon
