When you use a shiny silicone mat you can see right through the glue. It's great for so many things.

Once again, you came up with something wonderful to do. Somebody just gave me a brand new Surebonder gluegun, guess I know how to break it in.

I love real encaustic but I think this is much more interesting! Do you coat it with something so the glue isn't sticky?

I think this is a nice alternative with lots of possibilities. You can coat it with matte lacquer and it's just fine.

Sometimes I rip off the covers of old books, and turn them into postcards and mail them. Also, I cut up record album covers to the correct size, and turn them into postcards. Everything is a craft project!

No, just for weight. The microwave will dry out the moisture in the leaves and once they're out of the microwave for a few minutes they'll flatten & dry even more.
