I use apple poporri apple scented also to fill pie as well as top dough with it under the lattace design top of pies, folks not only smell it but say it really looks like a real pie. I but ceramic pans from thrift shops and us them also, I found one in the shape of a heart that is really cute for the pie on my counter top.

I love that, it turned out great! So cute!!!

I think I would use amy Grandmother's pie plate made out of China for the nostalgia. But love the idea.

I made two pies!!! They came out great! I wish I could post a picture here. I used Daveda's salt dough recipe (1 per pie). On my one pie, I brushed egg white and sprinkled with cinnamon before putting in the oven, the other, I baked for a few hours then sprinkled and brushed and put it back in the over. I think they both came out fine. in the future I think I'd brush and sprinkle at the beginning only because it was simpler. These are going to be used on a theater stage for a dance number, so I hot glued them around the edges to the pie tin just to be sure. The dough was super easy to work with and they were super easy to make! Thanks Daveda!

I`ll take mine a la mode!! Looks like the real thing!! I did a little vignette in my kitchen for the 4th of July last year with a `As American As Apple Pie` theme. I incorporated a vintage Betty Crocker cookbook from the early 1950`s that belonged to my Mom as well as some other apple-related items. It turned out so cute! You know what they say, you can`t get more American than Mom and Apple Pie! Yours turned out great! Thanks so much for sharing, Daveda : ) Love you : )

Cheryl In Christ I don’t see why not just make sure that you bake it first don’t put the mod podge on and put it in the oven🤓 so do all your baking and then when it’s all done and cool then put modpodge on💖💕😘

why the egg wash? could you use the gloss modge podge when done? I've seen you make the mini apple pies without the bottom crust, i thought just the top would pop off the aluminum edge.. guess not, thank you i am going to give it a try, i did make your carmel apples, people can't believe they're not real :) thank you for being an inspiration and getting me out of my funk

Daveda after I watched this video I realized I didn't hear the part where you put egg wash on pie and put back in oven. LOL Not sure how you did egg was? Egg and just wisk in bowl and brush on?

How did you get the starts to adhere to the pie up top?

Can you please be more specific about the egg wash? I assume it's the whites. But do you bake it again and if so for how much longer? I need to make these like right away! LOL Also after it's done can I spray it with a clear coat poly finish? It look super easy, or you make it look easy. Thanks for sharing!!!
