I love games with these subtle manoeuvres. They are sometimes more beautiful than games with a knockout blow/ sacrifice. Thank you for sharing. ❤

Vamos Fausti! Thanks Daniel I really enjoy the way you analyze chess games. You deserve more and more subscribers. Keep up the good work.

Great game to learn from, well played by Faustino. We can see why he has already hit Kramnik's radar, which I say to mean that he is just playing very well surprising the paranoid people of the world who can't handle that sometimes things are not black and white but often shades of grey. Today's young players are showing this kind and level of play more frequently. This reminds me of every Abdusattorov game I see. Each time I think to myself "Wow, what incredible strategic play. The discipline, the composure, the technique. Bravo!" I found the tactic, but not the finish. Thanks for sharing GM King!

As a ten year old I was also looking to win with gambits, unlike you and Faustino I have not matured and still like to play them. As you say a very mature performance from the young man. Thanks Daniel.

Ironically enough, it was Georgia who pounced this evening against Portugal. I like Oro a lot. He tied for second place ahead of Hikaru and Magnus on Titled Tuesday a few weeks back so he's a fearsome blitz player as well.

A loved the comparison with football (soccer for Americans). I love both sports. Even though they so obviously different, I find that they're also so surprisingly similar in many ways.

I have to wonder if he's played against computers a whole bunch. Getting your brains beat out by the silicon beasts will very quickly teach you the merits of solid play.

Someone's beaten me to this theme but you appear to have jinxed Portugal. Still they're through. I don't suppose Cristiano & co will mind when they watch the video between matches!

Has anyone ever gone back and determined when Sammy Reshevsky would have been an IM or GM?

Reshevsky got the GM title at 39, in 1950. That was when the title was introduced.

It seems that Faustino will became the new Messi of Argentina chess. Sadly I'm afraid Portugal can't compete with him, there's no CR7 on Portuguese chess although the level and the number of Portuguese players has been increasing. Congrats and good luck Faustino.
