Wow. wow! wow!!! Excellent French pronunciation, fabulous legato, and oh, the control on "la presence" ! I'm checking out the other two videos right now. Very, very impressive (and I speak as Faust aficionado)

I never heard this tenor before but he sings with wonderful clarity and purity of tone. I shall look for more of his recordings. This is beautifully sung and comparable with any of the great tenors throughout history going back many years to Enrico Caruso.

Outstanding!!! He sang beautifully with great vocal techniques and excellent tone quality. His enunciation was full and distinctive. His aesthetic expression was very delicate, balanced, powerful and inspirational. Surely he is one of the best tenors on this gorgeous aria! Furthermore, I strongly believe that Mario Bahg would be one of the greatest tenors of all time eventually.

유투브 알고리즘으로 우연히 봤는데 우리나라도 월드클래스 테너가 탄생했네요 최상급 음질에 음악성에 고음까지 완벽하고 거기다 성량까지 이정도면 약점이 없는 성악가 하이 C를 내기도 힘든데 거기서 디미누엔도(?)까지 구사하는 분은 첨이네요 코로나 끝나고 한국 공연 있으면 꼭 가고 싶네요

Very nice. I loved the diminuendo on the C. He's quite young and he should do very well. The 2nd syllable in "salut" is covered which is disturbing. I would coach him to do the brighter sound which the vast majority of world-class tenors have done it.

Listen to some of the greats. It does. He's technically adequate but so cold. This coldness does help him technically though.

@@sevenoctave88 That's your example of better than technically adequate? I love Di Stephano, just as I love many non-opera singers that produce a wonderful sound with unsustainable technique. But Di Stephano I think objectively had poor technique and it shortened his career substantially. I don't hear too many technical faults in Bagh's singing here. If the accusation is that Bagh isn't delivering the song as well at a major competition in a foreign country at under 30 years of age while Di Stehpano was more moving at 45 when he was world famous and a veteran, then sure. But that's a ridiculously unfair comparison.

I think it must be racial prejudice. This guy is as good as Pavarotti ever was (I heard Pavarotti live often. My wife sang with him). It is just unacceptable that Bagh isn't world famous. Black men also had trouble overcoming operatic prejudices. Audiences couldn't seem to accept black men on stage in classical roles. Funny black women didn't have this problem. I sang in a black studio when I was young. We had a black tenor who we all thought would make it big. He had a beautiful voice. He was great. But there never has been a black tenor this good.

Unfortunately today it is to visually please audiences and singers and exception voices are secondary ,it's all about selling seats at the opera house . I would be happy to see performances of operas with this young man , even if his looks are challenging , his inner core and acting ability override them , his voice and smooth singing are just so beautiful . For much of his career Pavarotti was not the physical image of a romantic hero .

nowadays for female singers, the obstacle seemed to be not too much extreme as back then. Asian female singers would be accepted as beautiful young chick , black women singers could be seen as glamorous dark colored pearls. but as for male songers.. that just show us this world still is a patriarchal society.

I have no doubt that racial prejudice can be an issue in the opera world. But I think you need to give it a minute. He's literally just at the very beginning of his career and already has a small role at the Met. And while I think he's absolutely got one of the most beautiful voice in the last century, he's still young and there are some rough edges to clean up. He blew the high note in another aria the day earlier in this competition for example. That said, if he continues improving and for some reason or another isn't at least as in demand as Michael Spyres (who is also underrated somewhat) then I think we can start speculating. Voices like this are once a generation and I think he has a nicer natural sound than Pavarotti, even if Pavarotti had better technique in his prime. But they're similar in that there is a great fullness and ease and a nice ring. It's not small, but it's also not big and sloppy or overly dark.

What an angelic voice out of a dude who looks like a butcher. I am in awe.

희한한 성씨, 노래는 높은 단계, 그런데 멫오페라서 2년 연수까지 하고 아마 데뷰까지 한것으로 아는데 왜 이렇케 좋은 소리로 멫오페라에 안나오는지 아쉽다.

Well, this is pure and lovely singing. I would rather refrain from comparisons to Caruso. Completely different voices. I do hope the voice will add more weight and acquire more heft. Please don't be afraid to sing with more abandon.

A pretty voice for sure but most of the sounds he produces cannot be truly heard over an orchestra. A very undersung rendition…
