During a cool morning shower by a brave ranger, this chubby Wombat (26 kilo's!!) is in for either an innocent play or a deadly attack! First time I've ever seen a Jumping Wombat anyway!

The baby wombats are very playful. When they grow up they can be super aggressive and territorial. You can't keep them as pets because they destroy everything and burrow into everything. Their teeth are so strong they can bite through lots of stuff
@Arrogan28
2 жыл бұрын
@@doryfishie2 The trouble is i heard it is illegal to re-release them into the wild if they have been raised in captivity only because they don't fair well at all if that happens. They will die without human assistance as adults, and don't think they have figured out yet is rehabilitation for the wild is even possible with them. The videos i have seen of them show them to adorable as babies, and then as teens and adults they have a very strong will, so they won't stop if they want something, and as you said they can chew through most household materials baring metal, ceramic, and they are like little bulldozers pushing everything in the house around, all the cupboards that are unlocked are fair game, all the shelves, cushions, towels, sheets, laundry, books, it is all going on the floor or being pushed around where they want it that day. They can bite but if they love the person they can be taught not to bite hard, but even then they will still nibble. Their front teeth are like a beavers, seem very related to me actually coming from a place with beavers, those front teeth are designed for burrowing animals, cutting through big tree roots, etc. In the wild I think they basically bulldoze all day dens, and so they do the same in your home. So once you have one it is a 25-30+ year commitment from baby to adult to raise an animal that unlike dogs, or cats, is gonna turn your house upside down on the regular, and there is not much you are gonna be able to do to stop it, cause if they don't find something to be pushing around, then something worse will happen, ie better they are pushing your linen/towel cupboards out regularly, then they decide to burrow a den into your wall, or your bed... they are social though, so they form bonds, etc...

The baby wombats are very playful. When they grow up they can be super aggressive and territorial. You can't keep them as pets because they destroy everything and burrow into everything. Their teeth are so strong they can bite through lots of stuff
@Arrogan28

For those wondering, wombats are little tanks, its why the keeper can seemingly be so rough with them because they're basically indestructible. I imagine the tourists are like "wow all Australians have to fight 26 little tanks everyday" and yes we do.
