Fatoumata Diawara "Timbuktu Fasso"

Stellar Malian actress/songstress Fatoumata Diawara performed with her band at The Sanctuary for Independent Media on April 28, 2016 and brought down the house.
www.mediasanctuary.org
www.fatoumatadiawara.com
Here she sings her powerful lament about the ancient city of Timbuktu, under assault by religious fundamentalists:
THIS IS MY LAND
This is Timbuktu, my home land,
Where the children are mourning from gloom,
This is my land, Timbuktu «the Maliba»,
The land of love,
The land of warmth,
The land of dignity,
Here is my Nation…
Why are we crying?
Why are the children crying?
Why are the young crying?
Cause of unfairness,
Cause of violence,
Fearing the future…
Here is my home
Stop crying
Cause no matter what, Timbuktu will remain

It is not just on the continent of Africa. People all over the world are being tricked into believing these religious leaders. They are giving up their hard earned money, their freedom, and self determination for a ticket to Heaven when they die. All they are doing is making these so called religious leaders more wealthy, and robbing themselves and their family of a future. The World needs to wake up and throw off the shackles of religion. It is the only people everywhere can truly be free.

Yes...the governments in may African nations are crooked, but keep in mind that White interlopers caused many of the problems on the Motherland through colonization. Many African Nations are less than 50 years out of colony rule...The US on the other hand is 240+ years out of colonial rule and still have issues. Europe knew exactly what it was doing by dividing Africa and breaking up tribes.

Africa founded every major civilisation in the world, Kush, Kemet, Sumer, Akkad, Assyria, Persia, India, China, Olmec, inter alia. No civilisation exists without a university. To wit, Timbuktu is at least 10 millennia short of being the first University Africa aka Afruika. But it certainly predated many outside of Africa.

Fatoumata is also my sister's name. Over a decade ago in Bamako I met a child with the voice of an adult. She was a toddler at the time. She must be 15 or 16 now. I think she was from Troare tribe. One of her grandfather's name is Dembele. He is an artist, Bogolan. I came to study with him. I would like him to know I have not forgotten any thing. Hope to see you all again one day soon. Love Julie Ann
