I had to text my cousins in Cape Town to ask them what a naartji was! ( We have lived in Canada for many years!) It is a mandarin orange! ....when I told my Dad that I was making these, he told me that back in the day in Cape Town, there was a gentleman who used to come around on the weekends with his cart selling fresh, warm Koeksisters! He said he and Mum would buy dozens for us!
