Father’s Last Words- A Zelda Animation

Фильм және анимация

"Life is going to get tougher from now on.."
Story
-------------------
After Link destroys the evil inside the Deku Tree, Link returns to the Deku Trees final wishes.
Info
----------
Sorry, this took so long!
This was my take on the Great Deku trees death scene.
Was by far the most tossed aside scene in the series LOL. Links literal only real guardian dies in front of him
and in Oot it was sooo stale...
Besides that It was fun to do this one because of how ironic it was to me as a kid! and I added my own spin at what the Deku should've said.
I noticed he never really said by or told Navi goodbye especially Navi ahahaha she just was Sunday driving thru that scene in the original LOL
The process of making this made me really appreciate my parents, anyone whos ever comforted you is someone very special regardless of what happens down the road. Tell the people you love, that you love them!
Anyways I have another video on the way please stay tuned!
and also streaming will return i figured out why it crashed ;)
And I have to give another big shout out to Brock Hewitt: Stories in Sound for literally going all in on this score!! please show him the love

Watching link so happy when he sat down knowing what would happen hurt me so much but also filled me to the brim with happiness seeing how happy he was then when the great deku tree died I felt the same pain I felt 12 years ago when I was first old enough to understand the story of the game I had played so many times before this is so beautiful I cannot stress enough how great your work is

Couldn't agree more. I first played this game when I was three and never got to this part. When I was old enough to complete the dungeon I didn't fully understand what had happened so I just continued playing without a second thought. I replayed it a while ago and this bit really hit me. However, I wish Nintendo could do a remake with even better graphics so we could properly see the emotion Link felt. But I still love this scene regardless and I am amazed at how good this animation is. Well done MajorLink!

What a way to set up the real tone of the game huh. The sadder parts were either heavily implied through dialogue or displayed through symbolism. My take is the 5 temples as an adult are representitive of the stages of grief link starts to go through. That's why the water temple is a confusing labrynth--love is complicated, with extreme highs and lows and temperamental. Depression and general sadness are represented using blue. Dark link shows up here because link is essentially depressed by this point, trying to stay strong and afloat but he can't. ruto tries to reassure him not to be discouraged and that Zelda is indeed alive. Its not quite enough though. He runs back to childhood one more time in an effort to make himself feel better and decides on a harmless romp at the bottom of the well. That simple curiousity had him stumble into a place where he saw things he shouldn't have. His curiousity was rewarded alright, but at a price. The experience hardened him and stamped out what was left of his innocence and ignorance. The water temple started by drowning him but now he's in a black hole; he becomes numb, unsure whether he should be loyal to the cause anymore. It's not until he gets to the end of spirit temple for him to accept everything after seeing how heartless the gerudo were to their own and to others. How barbaric and primative they seemed in comparison. But what i never see brought up is that twinrova is the first full blown human(oid) boss link faces and legitimately kills--ganondorf's _guardians/mothers_ to be precise. Like how ganondorf took the great deku tree from him; it is an eye for an eye. the real final test of becoming an adult was link's willingness in taking another life. If he could do that then he was ready to not hold back against ganondorf.

@@ShadowSkyX That's deep! Watching The Hero's Purpose series has given me a different perspective as well. Link feels lost and his heart is full of sadness brought on by his adventure when he left the forest. There's almost sort of a garden of eden feel by this, Link left the comfort of his home in Kokiri Forest and when witness to the real world and how cruel and awful it is he grew up. It's reflective of the weight of knowledge on one as they mature and grow losing their child innocence.

One of Link's most vulnerable and sad scenes. I love how you actually made him show emotion. Unlike the original game, where we get a blank, confused stare. So sad. Made even sadder by the cutscene in Windwaker when Link meets the Deku Tree. So much crying.

A blank confused stare is equally appropriate though. He wouldn't understand why his efforts didn't change the outcome. Why ask him to destroy the source of the problem when the deku tree is already, irreversibly dying from it? The great deku tree wanted assurance that link had and maintained his courage in the face of adversity regardless of the outcome.
