@nethercreature1624 and it applies to today. Changing the culture and prosecuting the criminals are a great start to eliminating so-called "Gun Violence"!! There is virtually no real mental healthcare in the United States. It has been created by completely destroying family culture, devaluing life and lives, allowing "anything goes" and a complete breakdown of morals & ethics. There's no morality left in this country. Heck, we can't even define what a biological woman is. At the end of the day, everyone wants to blame inanimate objects like firearms 🤔🤔🙄🙄😂😂. It's all start at home... so you need to start looking into the mirror and accepting your own responsibility!! The Lame Street Media & 'Mommy's Demand Tyranny' both need to explain why America has the highest density of gun owners but statistically one of the lowest crime rates in the world!! Why does Congress ALWAYS make gun laws that only affect the law-abiding Gun Owning citizens, but NOT the criminals responsible for the violence caused?? Answer me that media analyst...because true journalism in this country is null and void!! Maybe you'll actually realize it's ALL about CONTROL!! These politicians (both sides) don't give a hoot for your safety... just your vote to keep them in office for as long as possible!!

There is a mental health crisis in our nation at this time and the mental gymnastics being done in order not to address it are astounding and disturbing. Our society's callous disregard of those in need of treatment and mislabeling of the crisis as a firearm problem only serve to propagate further shootings and further grieving. We sould pitty these sick individuals enough to get them the help they need before they become shooters who spread their feelings of unfair pain and isolation to others. Instead, the half of the country that claims to be the compassionate and accepting left will continue to seek to punish law abiding citizens for the violent acts of those they claim to feel compassion for, but can't care enough about to get them the professional psychiatric help that they so desperately need. How is it that we, the self-aware left, don't see through our own veneer of caring in order to objectively understand our own disinterest in living up to our self assigned moniker? Those who founded this incredible country have surely rolled over in their graves and have turned their back on your self described "activism" years ago.

Crumbley was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing four people and injuring seven others at the high school in 2021. Loftin said she’s proud of Crumbley for making a statement in court and apologizing, something she said she did not know he would do. “I’m proud of him. It’s a first step to healing for the community and for him moving forward and dealing with a lifetime that’s going to be extremely difficult," she said. Asked what is different for Crumbley since the shooting two years ago, Loftin said things like "medication, seeing a therapist, having positive adults in his life” were all part of the change that has begun for him. Loftin also said Crumbley wasn’t surprised by the sentence.

Ethan Crumbley has become the first minor to receive an original sentence of life without the possibility of parole since a 2012 US Supreme Court ruling saying that sentencing a child to life without parole is excessive for all but the rare offender. According to court documents in the case, Crumbley, now 17, is the first juvenile offender to be originally sentenced to life without the possibility of parole after the US Supreme Court’s Miller v. Alabama ruling on minors and prison sentences. Some context: In 2012, the Supreme Court ruled that two men convicted of killings committed when they were 14 could not be sentenced to life in prison without at least the possibility of parole. In a subsequent 2021 ruling, the nation's highest court upheld the sentence of life without parole for a juvenile offender in a 6-3 decision, rejecting arguments that such sentences should have additional limits. The 2021 ruling was thought to pave the way for future minors to receive the harsh sentence.

Olivia McMillan described receiving an emotional last text from her friend Justin Shilling on the day a shooter opened fire at Oxford High School in 2021. McMillan said when her class heard gunshots coming from the hallway, she sent a text to her group chat, which Shilling was a part of. Shilling texted back that he was in the bathroom with shooter Ethan Crumbley, she said. The last text his friends received from him said, “I love you guys,” she told the court on Friday at Crumbley's sentencing hearing. McMillan later found out her friend was dead. She said she was thankful to have Shilling as a friend. He always tried to make others laugh, helped with homework and wished his friends luck on their sporting events. On the day of the shooting, the class initially thought the loud bangs were just someone slamming lockers or pulling a prank in the hall, McMillan said. For the days after the shooting, McMillan said she still believed Shilling was going to be OK and thought about all of the high school events they had ahead of them.

This should not have happened to need "thoughts and prayers" or harsher penalties because obviously this approach isn't working. The US have multiple shootings EVERY DAY. It's sad but I know I'm wasting my time writing this because many of you know what needs to be done but don't do anything about it. Some of you will try to tell me knives are more of an issue than guns, which is nonsense. Every country in the world has millions of knives in kitchens, and they don't have mass stabbings. Nothing will EVER change in the US until you bring in stringent gun laws and get as many guns off the street as you can.

when you see the face of the kid you realize the twisted reality we have created for ourselves, in other countries weapons are wielded by soldiers , criminals, guards or police men whose actions, however right or wrong, are in accordance with their environment, a criminal kills when he robs or is on contract, there is a logic to it. A teenager having access to the weapons and using them in a school....there is just no reason other than we neglecting our social environment, leaving these responsibilities to others.

However tragic this situation was, it's insane that a fair justice system could involve taking the families' personal beliefs about prison time into account. This is why black people get more time. You either deserve the maximum penalty or you don't. Those who do shouldn't be forgiven just because they bamboozled the family, either.

This is absolutely tragic, but we have to remember that this school shooting occurred in a common sense, ‘Gun Free Zone’, which was a school. If we look at the location of the majority of mass shootings most recently, we will find that these have all occurred in, Gun Free Zones. These zones can include schools, theaters, shopping centers, college campuses, or any other location that displays the gun free decal or sign on their property. Gun free zones are very dangerous places.
