At least, this child is living. I wish her the very best for her future. She is living.

I am Palestinian and I am absolutely heartbroken by with this man and his daughter and entire family went through. These kinds of segments are important to show to the world. Equally as important, the world must see the suffering experienced by Palestinian’s day in they out in both Gaza and the West Bank both before, and after October 7. The world needs more empathy. The world needs to put what is morally just before individual agendas. Unfortunately, that’s a naïve wish as we have seen time and time and time again the powers that be will inflict as much misery upon people as is necessary to fulfill its agenda. The truth of the matter is both pro-Palestinian, and pro-Israel Lise are manipulated by the various media they view, and people must take a step back and realize we are all humans. We have love, aspirations, fear etc. we are being pinned against one another by the extremists in power. Palestinians deserve freedom, peace and security. Israelis deserve to also live in peace and security. But you can not infringe on the rights of one group. No matter what .

@ahmedahmed you are the FIRST Palestinian here on the internet so far, who has shown compassion and empathy for both sides, I've seen countless of Israelis shown compassion for Palestinians as well but not one Palestinian doing it, until now. I came to the conclusion that Palestinians are born without ability to feel anything for other people, like a form of what Asberger can be like. Or maybe just a thing no Palestinian has ever been taught by their parents and by generations it has stopped developing. You are exeptional, one in a million, take care of that empathy that you are able to feel and please try to talk about it to fellow Palestinians, tell them what it feels like. And tell them to GET compassion you also need to GIVE compassion.

It's even worse for palestinians.

I just imagine every child involved in this entire conflict will be experiencing unbearable pain and trauma. Each child is important. Young Emily should not have endured this trauma, nor should the 4 yo Palestinian boy who lost his parents and both of his legs and keeps expressing his desire to walk. The whole situation is abominable and has reached the stage where I do not care about right or wrong, it is all wrong.

Seeing that smiling kid, doesn't indicate trauma. We cant' say the same about the Palestinian kids in Gaza, surely you have seen the videos. It's frightening to see that some Israelite haven't any, any feelings about their traumatized Palestinian victims. The Israeli government told them that Palestinians are not human beings, and that is what those people "believe".

This father went through too much. Emily is too young to lose 2 mothers and being held hostage in 9 years of living.

I'm so glad that Emily and other hostages were released safe and sound. I hope they all recover from their ordeal and the rest of the hostages will be released. No little girl deserves to go through something like that. The father & daughter bond is very strong which is lovely to see, he must have been through hell.

There's a video of an elderly lady who was freed. She described rapes and torture of a woman right beside her.

This is a real shame when children are traumatised. She must have seen what other children in gaza are seeing; constant bombing, bodies rotting on the streets, people screaming over their dead family, and who knows what horrors

Omg, they were gone 50 days and to her it felt like a year. Poor girl I hope she can get all the help she can and recover.

Israel and other organizations such as Unicef have been sending all kinds of aid to the Palestinians in Gaza, but the Hamas Terrorists keep stealing it for their own uses. They even dug up miles of water pipes in Gaza to make bombs to kill more Israelis. All that they want is the genocide genocide of the Jews and to totally wipe out Israel. Israel has a right to exist and defend themselves.

This exact deal was on the table October 8th and they waited 40 days and killed 1% of Gaza's civilians and dropped bombs on their own hostages. This dad's pain throughout the whole rollercoaster has been absolutely heart wrenching. The uncertainty, the acceptance and "relief" at her death, then finally being reunited. I really hope he was wrong about death being the better fate. Hope Emily can still be a child after this ordeal and all the fear and loss she's been through.

I imagine when the bombing started, everyone stopped maintaining hygiene and things like lice and other infections probably started spreading like wildfire. I also don't think that shaving the captive's hair to prevent lice was a top priority when bombs were dropping all around them... It's great to be skeptical considering the amount of propaganda going around, but you have to at least try to use some basic logic...

I am glad she is released and reunited with her father. Unfortunately the same can not be said for many children on the other side who lost both parents or they themselves gone. Why can't we have peace for everyone? Humanity is lost.

It’s so heartbreaking hearing the stories of suffering and trauma, it’s not fair that children have to suffer the scars of War. Emily is lucky to have all the support to get her back. And I pray she does. I heard the story of girl called Hanna, who is also 9. whose whole family had been blown up as they were sleeping, she was buried under the rubble and after days found out she was the only surviving member of the family. The girl needed a double leg amputation and is now having no legs, no family, no hospital and no safe space is being forced and shifted from place to place hospital to hospital in Gaza becase there are bomb threats daily to even hospitals. No safe space for Hanna. No psychological support for Hannah, no mothers love for Hanna, no father love for Hannah, no carer to look after Hannah. No life for Hannah. But no one cares about Hannah’s story because she was born on the other side of the wall

As someone with PTSD, I find it difficult at times to be around anything or anyone that stresses me out. Work, big crowds, I kind of live inside my mind sometimes. Finding things I love to do, collecting rocks, biking, going to the ocean. It puts my mind on what Im doing that I enjoy. Let her rest a lot, take naps when she wants to. The ordeal is very mentally tiring.

The most rightful thing is a referendum made by true original land owners (Palestineans, including native Palestinean jews) and they decide the state they want. Simple. Very simple. I'm not saying Emily hasn't been traumatised, poor little girl, but any child would be traumatised fleeing the relentless bombardment from house to house. I am sure she is fortunate to be able to receive counselling and therapy in due course and she has loving adult siblings, a father and extended family to support her. Other children in Gaza have become orphans and have lost everything, with no form of therapy available to them, as the cold of Winter draws near. The fact Emily lost weight is not a surprise, Israel stopped water, food, fuel, amenities from going in. The fact she was infested with lice is also not surprising, considering the restriction of aid and water for washing is causing an unhygienic situation which helps spread all sorts of infections and disease. I am not trying to take away from the joy of seeing Emily returned to her family and, please God, she will recover fully from the traumatic experiences 🙏 but please try to keep a balanced perspective of the pain suffered by the children of Gaza too. Mr Hand didn't say anything about his daughter's ordeal that would've upset the Israel government, unlike the elderly lady (released a few weeks ago and wished Shalom to her captors) whom we haven't heard from since, but I am curious to see if other released hostages will be 'allowed' to speak about their ordeals, without scripting

Tragic story and all children should be protected from conflicts. If you have compassion you must want peace for Palestinian children. There is no excuse for the violence against children on Oct7th or in Gaza every day since then

His first interview broke my heart, especially when he said that he was so happy when IDF confirmed his daughter was dead because he knows what Hamas do to hostages which is worse than death. Gladly, this is not true. All the released hostages were in good health, and I even saw many of them saluting Hamas guys 😅

@@MAli-sq1cs Are you for real?! Good health? They all suffer from malnutrition, lice (no showers for 50 days) and bruises. Some were injured by bullets. Some kids were beaten by mobs on the streets of Gaza. The elderly women are suffering from a myriad of issues since they didn't get medication. One is hospitalized in serious condition. This will be a trauma for the rest of their (and their family's) lives. Kids have been forced to watch clips of the horrors of October 7th. If they cried they were threatened at gunpoint to stop crying. They waved and saluted the Hamas "guys" since they were obviously told to (for the Hamas propaganda machine which you obviously bought). Most still have relatives (especially men/husbands/fathers/brothers) held captive in Gaza so what do you expect them to do (while surrounded by an angry mob and Hamas gunmen) - to curse Hamas?!

This man is a good actor. The first time, he said i prefer my girl to be dead, then to be hostage at Gaza because you don't know what are they doing to people in Gaza!!! You can watch his video with the same woman interviewing him.

So an interview with a hostage's father and not a single question on how she was treated during captivity? AMAZING journalism from CNN as always.

Also tell the stories of all the children of Gaza who are either being murdered or left orphaned, no child in the word is more or less worthy of living in peace, being loved and pampered, being protected, they're children and they deserve the same. Just like that no parent on the Earth deserves to look for and collect the bits and pieces of their children.

I love the sympathetic look on the reporter's face. I wish she would express the same sympathy towards the 5000+ dead Palestinian children. No children should go through war regardless nationality and ethic or religious background.

I am so disgusted honestly. 5000+ Palestinian children dead (wait, I meant people under the age of 18), not one person shed a single tear on main stream media. No interview with any Palestinian family, no reporting period. One Israeli Person under the age of 18 (wait, I meant a child) hostage released, so many tears on main stream media. Glad she was safe and glad shes home . Untouched and well fed. Reem wasnt safe and Hind just found after being dead for 2 weeks alongside 7 members of her family and an ambulance with dead aid workers who went to save her. Honestly im glad shes safe but we need a ceasefire and freedom of hostages on both sides. Theres no humanity in what is happening.

Horror is that Israel told him she was killed. Horror is that they kept bombing Gaza knowing hostages are held there. She wasn't tortured or harmed by Hamas she was harmed by Israel. Palestinians come from Israeli prisons with unhealthy wounds and real psychological problems.

I don’t think people realise the trauma of being kidnapped, especially as a child. The torment of the unknown, your security blanket taken away, the unknown from hour to hour, day by day not knowing what will become of you. Absolutely terrifying.
