    I am watching this a day or two after this blessed priest died, very unexpectedly. My heart breaks 💔 that the world lost this outstanding man of God! I am going to watch every published homily of this priest. And I shall pray for him daily.

    No, he has spoken error, albeit he is probably a man of good will..still, he has spoken error: How did Padre Pio end up in Purgatory if he was a canonized Saint? How are ALL people from different faiths in Purgatory when the Church teaches that there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church? Can non-Catholics be saved? Yes, but how hard it will be and they will have to be innocently ignorant of the Fullness of Truth found only in the Catholic Church. Also, if they are saved, it'll be through the Catholic Church. Will all Catholics be saved? No, not if they die in mortal sin. These revelations from this nun are not in line with what the Church teaches, therefore, should be resisted.

    I’ve often thought the same thing. I’ve been to funerals or , Heaven help us, “celebrations of life “ for people who sometimes were pretty nasty people. We were told how they are celebrating with God in Heaven. I’ve tried to explain that if Our Father is truly merciful, then Purgatory exists. That without it, the most likely outcome will be Hell. People have been convinced that all you need to do to go to Heaven is to be a good person. Be nice, coexist, and the “once saved, always saved” lie. We need to go back to the truth and understand that Heaven isn’t a participation trophy.

    It was very difficult to understand just how loving and merciful our Lord is. I had never felt, seen or received such love, joy or forgiveness as showered upon me by the Lord . He Illuminated my conscience, I have no idea how hurtful I had been throughout my life. Yet he Loved me, forgave me -how was this possible? I am no one special that he bestow such a gift ..here a lost sheep up on this mountain in the dark. He made it clear that to receive His forgiveness on earth and it to bound in heaven ,I had to go to a priest for confession-as only through his priest could the Lord grant me that love & forgiveness which he had already shared with me that night! (Evening of Oct 5 1997 lost on a mountain in Medjugorje on the feast of St Faustina.) This is just a small except of my experience resulting in my conversion/awakening and becoming a Catholic which was also imprinted in my heart that night.

    This kind of teaching helps us to not be presumptuous of our salvation; in the long run it does much harm, because it causes people to have an inordinate and unnessisary fear of dying. This fear, was especially made manifest during the COVID scare.

    Fr Mark - thank you for this sermon. If only more Catholic priests would catechesize the laity.... Genuine questions - clarifying: (1) what about the 30 Gregorian Masses for the dead? Does that help shorten / lighten Purgatory? (2) What about Anointing of the Sick / Last Rites. If (assuming still conscious not in coma) a good solid Confession, plus anointing plus Communion, does that wipe out most if not all sins due? (3) The role of Plenary Indulgences. Yes I realise, like your Confession example, one cannot time death immediately after gaining Indulgence. But if yearly, we try to avail ourselves to as many Indulgences as possible, surely along the way, it is reducing the penalties due. A bit like scraping barnacles off a ship?

  • @chrisd.6322

    @chrisd.6322

    Жыл бұрын

    I'm no expert, however I thought that being forgiven is one thing, but paying the penalty is another. Fr. Chris Alar (Divine Mercy) is always using the example: you may be forgiven for breaking the window while playing ball if you confess and say you are sorry, but you still have to pay price for the broken window (i.e. penance on earth or purgatory).

    The Lord Jesus made a way. Adam and Eve closed the way to Heaven, Jesus opened it. However the Way is not free, we must still walk in it. Purgatory is the merciful place where the mistakes we made along the way are repaired. Then we go to Heaven! But before Christ came, there was no way.

    Please do not be confused for the Word says in Revelation 21:27 But NOTHING UNCLEAN will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life. John, the apostle, warns us, if we think we’re blameless, we have another thing coming 1 John 1:8 If we claim to be WITHOUT SIN, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. John reminds us again in 1 John 5:17 All wrongdoing is sin, and THERE is sin that does NOT lead to death. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:15 If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. Jesus did pay the ultimate price, that why Hebrews 12:14 says “STRIVE for peace with everyone, as well as holiness, without which no one will see the Lord”

    I want to know how do so many Protestants get into purgatory with mortal sin on their soul?

    We can not comprehend God's mercy and Justice. To whom much is given, much more is expected of.

    They can be saved, but it will be through the Catholic Church. It is hard, though, since they don't have the Sacraments. They will have to be very innocent in not knowing the True Faith; the True Church as well, since there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church. This preaching goes against what the Church teaches. It doesn't matter what someone's private revelations were...especially when they're not inline with Church teachings.

    @@michellemailloux2483 it doesn't go against the teaching of the Catholic Church. Just the way we have baptism by desire, some non Catholics live a Pius life and God in His infinite Mercy may grant to them the merits of His Passion as He does to us Catholics through the sacraments but directly. They may by their own lives be granted this grace. Catholics without knowing. I don't know if I'm explaining well. I'd point you to Fr. Chad Ripperger

    @@kings-Rex that is settling with me, because my Grandmother wasn’t Catholic, so my mind always wanders to this! She had a love for Jesus that was so unconditional and I pray for her always because I just know that she could be in purgatory for an extremely long time because she never had confession.

    Dear Tammy For mortal sins , there are 3 conditions: grave matter, full knowledge and full consent. Most people in the state of mortal sin don’t even realise it - including Catholics!

    Jesus told us of the destinations that await our souls. They are Heaven or hell. If there was a third destination Jesus would have revealed that. There is mention of Abraham's bossom, but according to my study of the Bible, purgatory is an imposed Catholic theological opinion. The scriptures you used are cherry picked to fit Catholicisms theology on purgatory. What of the Apostle Paul? When he said to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord? When Jesus said, " In my Father's house there are many mansions. If it were not so I would have told you." Not to mention that the theology of purgatory i believe, was a scam intended to feed off of people's fear that their loved ones were suffering in an unsavory place, and by giving money to the Catholic church you could give their souls some relief. The redemptive blood of Jesus Christ is what cleanses a believer, not time spent in purgatory. Lastly, I find it strange that your convincing "proof" of purgatory leaned more on a letter from a deceased nun than the word of God. Also, I search out people's testimonies on near death experiences and people report seeing Heaven or hell, no mention of purgatory. I do not intend my comment to be disrespectful, just challenging what your saying based on my own walk with Christ. God bless you and your church and may we all come to know the truth of God's word more clearly.

    Well, I think you should listen again to the video. Plenty of Scripture offered. Forget about the nun. The Church considers it "private revelation" and not Scriptural. Here's another citation that I'm surprised wasn't mentioned. Mt 12: 31-32 KJV. "...but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come." Forgiveness of sin "in the world to come" isn't on earth it's in Purgatory
