I watched this scene three times. First by playing the Visual Novel and read it. That gave a very in-depth explanation of the situation, both Shiro and Archer's thoughts as well as their feelings during the battle. Second by watching the Unlimited Blade Works animated film for the dramatic effects and movements. And finally this, just to watch the entire battle in real time. Truly epic.

You really recreated the whole VN feeling in this. First, he gets owned hard by archer, then, he does a comeback, but gets owned again. When he's about to take the last hit there and die, he gets the power from his worthless ideal and fights back till the end, defeating him.

Wow, epic fight. Nice combos, Epic comebacks, and awesome finish. Lol, you almost got UBW'ed at the end there.

When I heard, "Nine Lives Blade Works" I thought, this shit be over.

...Except for the fact that Nasuverse is definitely a multiverse/megaverse and it has been confirmed by Nasu that all routes and endings of Fate/stay night are canon, which, according to infinite multiversal theory, means that for every universe where Shirou dies, there will be endless universes where Shirou does not die, and vice-versa. Since Archer does not directly originate from any version of Shirou seen in FSN, there must still be Shirous that become Archers.

Oh, that's what you're talking about. I had thought you were saying: "if Archer kills Shirou, Archer will paradox himself out of existence completely"... which isn't true. Didn't he kill Shirou in one of the bad ends, outside of the church, and then just walk away? While I agree that his only desire was to kill Shirou, I think he might stick around for Rin's sake until he was defeated. Evidence from FHA shows that he considers "fighting beside Rin" as when he is his most "righteous".

That epic fail is for shiro's epic victory~

Except he doesn't, since those within the Throne of Heroes or those who are Counter Guardians are removed from all timelines and preserved as they were originally recorded, which means they can't be paradoxed out of existence even if they kill their former selves. So EMIYA is literally screwed no matter what.

@whuwhaaa2 Against the computer and its based off the visual novel and anime of fate/stay night i believe it is also based on unlimited blade works which was another route in the novel and an anime movie from fate/stay night i do not know if there is any affeliation with fate/stay night heavens feel though

This fight was better than the one in the film.

@MegaAXXXXX Maybe, but that fight was more one of wills and Ideals than actual martial skill. Even Shirou himself acknowledged that Archer should have won that fight. Though, throughout UMW, Shirou was slowly absorbing some of Archers past experience.

Not really, the series only followed the Fate route, and even then cut many corners, and while the movie did cover the Unlimited Blade Works arc(which is where this scene comes from), very little attention is given to explaining the story in the slightest, and it's really just an excuse to show the fight scenes animated to those who already read the visual novel and know the story. As just that though, it's amazing.

However, your forgetting about the fact that Archer's wish was to kill Shirou as stated in UBW, which is the only reason why he became a servant. After, there will be no reason for him to stay in the world as Archer as he would then disappear and be summoned into the next time when the world is in danger.

Not a bad idea my friend :). It would be a fantastic game, plus the graphics would be a lot better, etc. Also the music I don't get how they make it sound so cool, it gives you ambition to fight on :) I really like their stuff, Melty Blood as well :) one of my favorite games, I especially like Arcueid AHAHAHAHAHAHA COUGH COUGH :)

Dropped combos everywhere! Archer could have won the game at 2:48 when he got his last chant stock, but for some reason decided not to activate for UBW, which would have won him the game. From that point forward everytime he touched shiro and didn't activate he was throwing hard. Then again later on when he does activate he drops the combo like 3 times and misses the super and then loses. Big Plays. Play me at this Dyrus, I main Kirei and will destroy you with 50% kickloops into mixup.

voice round is a game setting in the game you can change.

That's not right. It is indirectly stated in heaven's feel that if Emiya Shirou dies, then Archer would lose what kept him as a servant and he would disappear, making Archer an exception.

Scripted? Can't be, it's too fluid. How would he script being able to get hit and lose all but 1-2 life like that? Me, I'm of the opinion "bots are too stupid to use strategy" and "the player is one hell of a lucky guy".

Nooo, I want a FUC on ps3 uuaa, I got no one to play it with sob sob. I really do hope they will make a FUC on the ps3 that's my wish, this game is the perfect combination, it's 3d gameplay but at the same fast as hell unlike SC5, it's more like SC5+Blazblue, there's no fighting game like this out there, so please make one for the ps3 I'm begging you TYPE MOOOOOON :))
