I think it's the first time DYKG has a narrator that knows how to pronounce Japanese.

I don't support censorship, but I'm not gonna lie, I think the Samus and Zelda costumes are way more fun than the lingerie.

Aldon Thing is... it ends up being a double edged sword in regards to the main character's backstory. According to a reply by Charlie99993, the main character is Gauvre model, someone who poses for risque photos without actual nudity, something she hates doing. The localized version not only removed the costumes, but also actual game models wearing the skimpy lingerie and altered her backstory so that she was now just a regular model that was formerly a gauvre model. They basically had to remove a bit of character development just so we could have Nintendo based costumes in the localized version. At least she didn't think of apple trees... Honestly though, the Zelda and Samus costumes look better...

"project zero" was a pun on "rei", the sound for which can mean either "zero" or "spirit"

Awesome narration, Gab! Love your videos! Also another fun fact: Makoto Shibata encountered a spirit of an old woman with a stroller while playing near an abandoned house as a kid. This ghost inspired the creation of the ghost "Stroller Grandma," a one-time appearance sidequest ghost in Fatal Frame III.

Am I the only one who would prefer the unlockable costumes for Zelda and Samus over the swimsuits and lingerie? They look awesome on the character models!

The first is easily one of the best horror games I've ever played. I remember playing at college with a bunch of my mates (all guys lol) and we all screamed and jumped when we encountered anything as the scares were so well done.

I played all the 3 of it, I swear those games gives me real shivers!! 😨

I love fatal frame! This is my all time favorite survival horror franchise! I just wish Nintendo of America would take it more seriously!

Bobbynibbles he is referring to the Fatal Frame series itself, when Nintendo made it exclusive on their system, they didn’t do any better to make the series even more popular or successful, it only hurt the series much worse, with Nintendo Wii U being a flop, so is the game.

not exactly, the fatal frame producer came out and said he wanted to make a new game, which I hope now that doug bowser is charge I can hope he'll actually acknowledge the series's existence instead of trying to sweep it under the rug like reggie did when he was in charge.

It's so true. I was never afraid of ghost living in the States. But when I live in Asia, shit. I can't even put my foot out of the blanket

There aren't enough good games about ghosts. They're such a fascinating subject to me, but they're seemingly rarely touched upon.

For anyone who hasn't, please play *Fatal Frame 2* . It's one of the best horror experiences ever made, IMO.

I mean....kinda a human thing it seems to attribute bad feelings to supernatural stuff. Supernatural stuff, I have no problem with, I think it's quite interesting but I don't get why people take it seriously outside of fiction. Just me?

For me, scariest game franchise.. i remember screaming to fatal frame 2 during jumpscare. Oh The good ol days without DLCs and buying a complete game.

I miss playing Fatal Frame. Getting my hands on them around 2010 was very difficult. I had to wait almost a month for the first one to be shipped to me. They need to make another for the PS5. Imagine how scary and amazing a game like that would be. I've been wanting a game to really send a chill down my spine. I *NEED* this game!

No - there's no DLC in any of the Fatal Frame games. Personally, I think America got the better end of the deal with the Nintendo-themed costumes, but censorship still irritates me on principle.

AdvancePlays The skimpy costume wasn't there only for fanservice, it was used at last in one important cutscene. The cutscene in question was a flashback from one of the characters working as a gravure model, and was relatively important to express the feelings and perception she had of herself. In the censored version she wears the ordinary clothes she wears throughout the game, completely canceling out the impact of the cutscene.

Holy crap! That was GaB! Now that I think about it, she did mention how exciting it was to work with you guys!

One of my favorite game series!

What made this game really scary is the sense of no safety, pretty much ghost can respawn at random chance sometimes by just simply viewing with Camera Obscura ghost cam randomly appear right on your view

Naw, just the American localizers took what the creators said about the inspiration and decided that they could twist it like an episode of Unsolved Mysteries, which was still running at the time

Water has been known to allow spirits to enter our world from their own plus many people are known to have "gifts" I have played FF4 on the Wii and it's a good game and worth getting if you love the series

Damn. I didnt own any console to play it but I remember clearly playing some parts of it at my cousin's place and it was terrifying to kid me then. But still, reading up the story and watching the playthrough, I thought that the entire narrative was beautiful, about love, hatred, revenge and sacrifice.

Fantastic series. Coincidentally, I got into it through Spirit Camera and its promotional material of all things. Not long after though I managed to snag copies of the first 3 games right around the time Gamestop was clearing out its PS2 stock. I consider myself very lucky in that respect as it's definitely my favorite survival horror series, with Maiden of Black Water actually being my favorite WiiU game in spite of the localization changes. Still crossing my fingers for a Switch port someday, if not a full on HD collection scenario by some miracle of chance. I hope Nintendo pushes this series outside of Japan harder than they have some day.

I've never played the games because I don't like playing horror games but I love watching people do walkthroughs and let's plays of them :) SHN and watchmebeibeh are my favourites for their walkthroughs.

The issue with those costumes is less their unlockable nature and more to do with their role in the story. The main character in it is a gavure model (which is basically is a model that has erotic photos taken of her without actual nudity), which is something she really doesn't like to do. With not just the costumes cut, but the models entirely removed from the game, you get altered cutscenes where she's having her picture taken for these shoots but she's in completely normal clothes lamenting having to be a normal respectable model. It's basically removing an entire angle of the character's backstory.

I was able to find a copy for Fatal Frame for the OG Xbox. I also found Fatal Frame 2 for the OG Xbox but didn't buy it at the time because I never played the first one...I regret letting that game go.

I use to have a wii that only had 1 game and it was fatal frame 4 in english, found it at a second hand shop.

Someone tell Colin thanks! I completely forgot I had to patch the game to play it until recently. I miss my Wii, I think I'll pick one up again whenever... money.... nevermind.

I wish Fatal Frame 5 would come to Switch, and come out physically this time. I have a WiiU, but I felt so hesitant to drop $60 on a digital only game, especially since it takes up nearly all of the WiiU's internal storage. If it only were available physically, there would be no problem.

My favorite is FF 3. Had a good time playing that game.
