El Rocky Raccoon a game has more elements than an animation. It certanly pulls off the feels but the gameplay is a bit lackluster even compared to that games that inspired it.

I watched one of his videos out of curiosity, and he sounded perfectly normal. He apparently just can't read these scripts naturally. It's a common problem for people, but it can be fixed with a bit of coaching.

Yes cuphead is out i thought it was just a simple game but just found out today i had to buy a $30 card as my son has Nintendo switch but was told i think i need to download it? omg, i Seriously thought Dr. Khal was a reference to the Theatrical play R.U.R (Rossum Universal Robots) Dr. Gall since they're both Engineers, and they both make robots, plus RUR was made in the 1920s the same era of Cuphead!

That part about if they knew how much work would have been to make Cuphead they wouldn't have made it at all... hey, nothing worth doing is ever quick or easy. They did a phenomenal job.

I enjoyed the section on music quite a bit! I actually noticed the similarities to the Super Mario World theme myself, so I'm glad to have found some commentary on that.

Cuphead is fucking great and watching this just made it better.

Words can't express how happy I am that they finished this game! They managed to fulfill their dream of making a game, and it became one of the most beloved indie games of all time

Awesome! I missed a lot of this when I played it, so it's cool to see some of its nods to other franchises here.

I bought this game knowing that I will probably never finish a level but this type of creativity has to be rewarded.

Did YOU also know that the doctor/robot fight is a reference to Dr. Eggman from the Sonic games? Something that is quite obvious, but you seem to have missed it. I mean he pulls out a colored DIAMOND/EMERALD at one point c'mon.

There's a bit of Dr. Wily in him, too. Dr. Kahl's mustache and hair are like Wily's, and Kahl's robot is sort of reminiscent of Gamma from Mega Man 3.

Adding to it is a reference to Castlevania when you fight the Devil in that he line he uses is "Have at you!" though it;s also period accurate for a challenge.

So glad this is coming to the Switch

Very nice video, I actually learned a lot from this and I have already seen so many Cuphead making of videos.

it's not likely to happen soon, but I would so love to have a sequel to this game. I don't know how they'd do it, but still.

OMG FINALLY

Definitely one of my favorite games of the year. Even if it caused much salt and anger and my piece of crap laptop could barely run it (especially during the final boss's second phase), I genuinely had a blast with it, and I could tell the amount of effort and passion the devs put into it.

Cuphead's soundtrack is amazing! My favorite song is Clip Joint Calamity

once the game has been data mined more, id love for you guys to come back and give us a full compolation of all the stages and bosses that got cut from the game, cause there is a lot

I'm surprised there's no mention of the castle in the background on Gloopy Le Grande's fight from one of the earlier builds, which further references Dragon Quest.

I need to grab the soundtrack at some point...and finish the game. I keep forgetting to get back to it after beating Isle 1, lol

Never seen DYKG within its first 30 minutes of uploading, neat!

That's actually an ideal I'd like to see done in modern MMORPGs, just have massively long music pieces for the surrounding areas, with the shorter pieces being saved for boss battles. The music should be centered more around how long a player would hang around that area. So a town amd the fields would be extremely long, dungeons would be moderate, battles would be moderate or short depending on the style, and raids would be extremely long. But that's just me hoping.

Good game there.

Got to say props to you, narrator, for seemingly taking a lot of the earlier criticism directed at your narration on board. While I still do find that there's a grating quality that's tough to put my finger on, it's almost night and day compared to older videos where your intonation pattern was identical for most sentences and you almost never paused. I remember seeing some well intentioned commenters assume the role of apologist and do that awfully misguided thing of telling you to "ignore the haters", which is terrible advice when referring to genuine criticism/constructive feedback. It would be easy to be a self-apologist ("Don't watch if you don't like it!" - obviously not a recipe for success) but you instead seem to have improved your performances and that's good to see, and even better to hear. If I were to tweak it slightly from here, I'd further dial down the super-smiley slightly manic inflection and temper it with a touch of the 'wedding speech' cadence - a more metered flow that sounds less like you're excitedly telling people about an awesome thing you discovered, and more like you're warmly reminiscing with friends. Hopefully those ultra-specific comparisons work to convey the general feel I'm talking about and don't cause confusion! This is really just my fine tuning suggestion at this point - it's sufficient in its current state for most viewers I'd say.

Sally Stageplay also has Street Fighter, specifically Street Fighter 3. Her intro of her dress tearing resembles Urien's intro while her divekick resembles Necro's divekick attack.

An update made some changes to some of the bosses. For example, you can now fight a hidden radish boss in the Root Pack fight if you avoid shooting the onion until he goes back into the ground. And if you do something in the Sally Stageplay fight, specifically weighing down platforms to drop something on the groom’s head, you enter a secret phase where nuns throw rulers at you

In 30 years while remembering the 2010s , Cuphead will definitely be mentioned as "highlight of the decade". Not only has it one-of-a-kind art style and great gameplay, but the soundtrack is absolutely stellar quality.

I hope we get a sequel to this game. It’s just so damn good and a breath of fresh air in the gaming industry and all platformers. It’s challenging and doesn’t hold your hand which is just so great. Adds more replay value.

Ok, this whole OST/music segment really intrigued me. You guys need to focus more on that, since there's a plethora of things you can cover, such as Koji Kondo's motifs in Nintendo videogame soundtracks! Maybe even dedicate a channel to it!

I knew Clip Joint Calamity was a full on reference to Street Fighter but the slot machine puzzled me. Now it makes sense along with the boxing gloves. It's a reference to Balrog's stage, Las Vegas.

This game should’ve been Game of the Year for 2017, so much creativity, uniqueness, innovation and originality. Never knew it was in development since 2013 and never saw the betas until this year.

I love this game, I bought it 2 days ago and have played it to hell. It has been difficult with me so far dying 143 times but it has been so fun. Its clear so much effort was put into this and I loved the style and personality in the game and especially with the bosses.
