We'll do a propper overnighter in couple of days :) Looking forward to it, it's been a while.

Jungle knots are great used them for a while but trc went the extra mile and added the storage pouches, so of course had to get them and never looked back 😉

Yeah the pouches are really cool, make everything neat and tidy.

Single use is really annoying. I try to do research to find products that last. I have a TV I bought in 1983 & it still works great. I haven't bought garbage bags for over 3 decades. I seriously applaud the Ocean Cleanup Project. Thank you for setting a great example.

I never actually used them before. You get accustomed to doing things a certain way and never think about is there a better way.

I'm impressed on set up time usually takes me about 2-3 minutes to set up my tarp. But, I love my Quick deployment Ridgeline it's outstanding AF! And can always be tightened at any point in time.

I use slings for my hammock but I tie off with 1800 lb mule tape. Lightweight and I can carry 100 foot of it nice and packable.

Mule tape? Man, that's really thinking out of the box. We don't really have it here as something "any store has" so never crossed my mind.

Loved the quick tarp setup. First time I hearing about jungle knots. Nice! 👍 Perfect coffee. 2and a half spoons 🤠✌️🇱🇹

I cant believe people are even commenting about how fast or slow Tref eats. Like wtf people, get a life. Also.... I am using the jungle knots next week on my solo paddling trip. Also, metal is the way to go. Preferably, heavy. Like Nine Inch Nails or Metallica. Thanks for the video!!!

Not A geardump but I have a bunch of videos where I show or talk about some stuff I use.

When scraping the birch bark, you don't need to use your blade. The square edge of a 90° spine works fine. Without dulling your blade. The same way you do with the fero rod.

I usually do that, I also scrape some really fine wood shavings with the back of the knife. I'm actually trying to see the practical difference in couple of knife steels I use so I'm using the blade for everything.

Simple and realiable, really like it.

Those pouches should make it more convenient to store the various lines without getting tangled up, although I just roll each of them up and tie them off with clove hitches.

Thanks Paul! Well, I have two DD's and couple others and I prefer DD's. This is the Frontline model and it's the "whole package" with double layers and a bug net. Only thing I don't like, and the same goes for all others I have, is that they come with really bulky and heavy cordage. I replaced mine with whoopie slings.

Oh, that depends where I'm going. If there's a stream or water in walking distance I usually take just 2L but if there's no water nearby at least double that. I can do without much water but I have to carry extra for my dog, he runs a lot and drinks a lot - probably more than I do.

Hello Frosty, unfortunately I didn't really understand the Jungle Knots. It would be nice if you could explain that more clearly. As for eating Tref, you found a good solution. Thanks! Sorry for not showing it better, it's so simple that I literally forgot to film some things. Basically it's two strands of rope with knots every 4" and you tie it by feeding a knot between the strands. The tension keeps the strands tight and they hold the knot in place.

@@selfmade6142 Frosty wrapped the double line around the tree... The line has the knots on the ends for about 18"... You take the double rope end which has a large knot on the end & stick it through the rope's twin parts which are under tension The twin rope will not let the large end knot pass between... you see ?

@@frostys_bushcraft FROSTY... Here's an idea for you about the jungle tie-offs ! Take a 1 1/2 meter long, 6.5 mm nylon cord... ( 4 ft long, 1/4 inch thick )... Melt and press the ends together so they won't fray apart...BTW You stretch the cord out on the floor @ home ... You then thread a large (6cm) metal washer on the rope so it's going through the washer's hole & pull both cords until each line is equal again... this makes a loop at the side of the washer, where you put a large ziptie to make it tight against the side of the washer & then use more large black zipties to fasten the 2 ropes together starting with the loop end... you put a ziptie every 14-16cm apart, making sure they are very tight... You can then put the washer (after getting it around the tree) through the middle of the twin ropes just in front of one of the zipties and use a wire hook/stick through the washer hole to make sure it stays locked in place... you understand ? The washer acts like a huge knot, but it will easily slip through the ropes when they are stretched out & stay in place ! You can also use the washer as a hooking point for other ropes using wire hooks ! The zipties make much tighter knots than the ropes by themselves.

Plenty of ways but the safest one is to find someone who knows them and learn from him. They can be tricky, lots of similar looking ones.

Get a good book on outdoor mushrooms from a book dealer, that has color photos/drawings of them... Be careful when you pick them (use gloves) & check them against the illustration BEFORE eating them !

I often end my videos on a funny note, many times with "forgot my camera" as others to that dramatic outro with epic music so it's a small bonus to people who watch till the end :)

I think so too. I keep finding trash in the craziest possible places. Found car tires on tip of a hill with no roads of any kind for almost a mile and hals, still don't understand HOW.
