co2 actually make the sealant dry up and harden, because the co2 reacts with the water in the sealant and makes carbonic acid, so i would only use co2 in emergencies and replace the sealant and fill it with air when you get home

Usually only use co2 when absolutely needed, sealent has to be replaced with certain brands bc it freezes or something, could be wrong tho

There’s actually a technique to avoid this for the most part. Spin the wheel until the valve is at the 12 o’clock position. Give it a minute so all of the sealant drains to the bottom of the tire and then you can pop a CO2 on he valve; the CO2 has time to equalize and warm before reaching the sealant.

CO2 doesn't dry out the sealant. It freezes it. The advice to turn the valve to the top is ok if the hole is at the bottom. The best thing to do is use a non-latex sealant Or use a high volume hand pump. The idea is to inflate the tire initially to the point where it will roll and not repuncture.

@@Danielxperez14 Is it a tiny little 4” long pump that weighs 1oz and takes 20 minutes to pump a tire to 5 psi? Nope. It’s a foot long and a half pound. It has a hose that extends and a small foot that flips out. The handle turns sideways giving you a pump that you don’t have to awkwardly hold on the valve stem. You step on the foot and pump it like a mini floor pump. It pumps really fast and easy. In other words, it actually works. It fits in my hydration pack just fine. It’s probably twice as heavy as a weight weenie pump, but I don’t care because it works so well. With the end planted on the ground, with your foot holding it down, and handle sideways, it’s so much easier to pump.

You can use a regular pump to add some missing air. The CO2 pump is a must have once the tubeless tire is flat.

Just so people know, this doesn't fully pump your tyres. It's only good if you need a quick pump after a flat and/or you don't have a proper pump with you, otherwise use a proper pump. This is expensive and overrated. From experience, I sometimes ride with a group and I had a flat. Someone on the group ride decided he'll use his co2 cannisters, ended up using 2 of them and the tyre still felt soft. Do with this what you will.

Kinda handy for setting the bead on a tubeless tire. If heard of it reacting “freezing” the sealant. I just assumed it froze because it was so cold. In my tires it returned to liquid after it warmed back up. I haven’t had any trouble yet. The real problem is I always seem to lose them. I don’t like to carrying a pack. In a pocket, it goes…..

These mes s up your sealant, so I won't use them other than in an emergency. But what I do have is a cool rechargeable Fumpa mini, . Nearly as quick, doesn't mess up sealant, and is cooler.

Don’t use C02 on a tubeless bike. The C02 cartridges will dmg the tires and make them corrode from the inside. When you have a tube you can just replace the tube since it doesn’t cost much and you replace them fairly often. But using a C02 cartridge is bad for your tires.

I disagree - C02 is fine in most cases (Peaty's sealant is also good to use with C02 according to them). If you are worried then just replace with air from a pump when you have more time!

Ideally you’d seat the tyre with the cartridge then let it down and pump up as usual, I’ve never seen co2 damage a tyre and I know a few who use them a lot . The only thing to be wary about using them that I have found it when using stans sealant.
