As a fast tank player I definitely find myself dying a lot but I'm sometimes rewarded with 10+ kills in a game when I get a good flank. It mostly depends on the enemy's awareness

That's exactly what I was thinking. Muffin praised light tanks every second without realizing the heavies are forced to take things slow and with fast tanks depending on flanks this forces the fast tanks in a situation of everyone flanking, then no one is. This is proven by the fact that the slow tanks where natural better equipped for brawling.

That just to show that light tanks may be fast but still rely on teammates like heavies to distract them from your flank

The results make sense. You need create a frontline to be able to have flanks to attack. If all the light vehicles are attacking flanks, then that "flank" becomes the frontline. There is a good reason the light vehicles are used for support and scout roles.

I think its to do with player experience with the vehicles they are piloting, in round two you can see its very obvious. Alot of the heavy's in round two are the tiger II's which is meta, but when you get the light tanks they don't have much playtime on them, there was one person in the 2nd round with experience with a non-meta tank and got a really good KD because of it. Conclusion: the light players were overall less experienced with the tanks they drove compared to the heavy players

Probably has to do a lot with the amount of time it takes to maintain/tech up the heavy trees. The repairs can suck for F2P guys. It's hard enough to break even at times so they get a LOT of playtime on those vehicles.

It was depressing in the first round to see the Breda get demolished, even at 5.3 I regularly get 7/9 kills. Even in some of the higher vehicles such as the AUBL/Fiat/CT90 I get 3/5 kills per game- maybe it’s just the Breda at 4.0 main speaking

I have been playing things other than usa and having 50 cals for things like breda is really noticeable and most usa tanks got the roof mounted aa 50cal which has great mobility

Even at 9.0 the breda is a menace. You just have to be sneaky and read the battle. If you get on the enemies side, they're in for a rough time

Chaos round was fast teams revenge for the last three rounds, and I wonder if the fast would have done better if everyone had infinite respawns

I remember circling an enemy tank with a bt-2, it took about 7-8 shots but was hella worth it

The first match on Normandy really showed the dynamic between how urban maps favor slow vehicles with armor for brawling and limited entry point for fast and light vehicles. Meanwhile the fast vehicles all went to the open side of the map to flank and snipe, but not fiding good ridgelines for cover or not shooting and scooting.

I went for the slow tanks because the fast tanks don’t expect the slow tanks to be that far flanked when they are shooting at different guys

Classic theory. Speed goes up, IQ goes down.

Above rank 4 it sort of start to be mute for armour the rounds carried by most stuff will go through most other vehicles it turns a little into a fast draw contest and the higher you go the worst it gets. That's why I don't play higher than say 5 because I personally find the fun goes out of it. plus at higher tiers you start running into players who take the game way too seriously.

Yup. I find every br after 8.0 the game progressively gets less fun to play.

I always play mediums because they are the best of both worlds, atleast until I can get MBTs. A beautiful 57 gun on a decently armored T-34, while still having speed.

Amazing vid as always, a suggestion i would make is meme tanks battle, like m22’s against l3’s for example, keep doing your great job man❤

This kinda shocked me, tanks like the M41 are typically extremely potent with their incredibly powerful gun, ability to retreat back into cover before an enemy shell hits, and overall has a faster reload. I think a lot of them were way too aggressive though, charging into the unknown when a good portion of the light teams lacked the ability to frontally penetrate. If they had more open maps where they could stand-off at range, I think they’d have a way easier time simply because they can dodge and bait without dying instantly.

I think that the fast team lost because they not played very good and not because of the vehicles Seriously they played very bad It will be other history with better players like in the video of the mordem SPAA vs WW1+WW2 CAS that video is a masterpiece because both teams played very well This video is good but still sad seeing my beloved mobile cockroaches being destroyed, my friend created this nickname to fast vehicles because he get very angry at them XD

You fail to realize this. The slow tanks know their opponents are flanking and if everyone is flanking, no one is. This becomes more obvious every single time you needed to add more light tanks. Now what does that mean? The better equipped vehicles for brawling are going to win.

Also ngl it’s crazy that heat slingers, and recoilless rifled light vehicles are able to be Rank IVs or 6.0-6.7 vehicles considering they were meant to fight things with stabilizers, hefty armor, and decent speed at 7.3-8.0. But I guess gaijin didn’t want to make them have to play on hard mode. But it’s not fair for things like Tiger IIs who don’t even have 50 Cals to deal with such targets in a pinch. Or unlike the IS-3 it doesn’t have a thicc machine gun to mow them down while reloading. The BR ranges in general should at least be 12.3 currently and decompression is a must at some point. Just to increase the gun threshold of players playing different vehicles.

Slow vehicles excel on small maps with lots of cover, and Sands of Sinai doesn't allow many long range engagements, so I'm not surprised by the results

3:36/9:44 I feel like this was more coping than an observations. It's obviously extremely hard to play a fast vehicle well, but so are slow ones. Optimizing route, knowing when to push and when to strategically withdraw, co-oporating with your team and diverting enemy fire, moving the frontline and using distance and angleing to create as much effective thickness between your armour and the enemy's round as possible... Playing heavy tanks can be very challenging challenging, especially for those who lack the patience to use them to their full potential. They're strategic weapons, not tactical ones, on the timescales of a War Thunder match. The difference lies in the fact that it's easier to play fast tanks poorly, than to play slow tanks poorly, hence why if you rush in, get one kill and die in a light tank, you get enough points to continue with that tactic. But with heavy tanks you won't be getting many points until you actually learn how to use them effectively. We generally see that heavy tank players are rarer, but on average posess more of a strategic sense than light tank players. **on average**. At the top of the player board slow and fast tanks can perform just as well with a competent player, so I'm by no means insulting fast-tank enjoyers. I can hear spite from Muffin throughout the entire video XD At least we're all dead sure of which of the two is your favourite.

Should do a video of a specific battle in history or a specific era of tanks

mobility in conjunction with map knowledge trumps everything, that is 100% the meta. Most maps are urban or at least strongly encourage CQC so tactics favor the more responsive. The fact that I can take a puma up to 6.7 and still perform reasonably well is testament to that. Amazing mobility, gun is good enough to flank and excellent at killing light/open top vehicles with the fast reload and high velocity.

I flanked in a bt5 in a game that was going against my team, got to a position on the back where no one expected and 1 spotted 3 people in a row, only died because there was too many targets and I tried to reload instead of bugging out

What funny is in the first fight some of the heavies could’ve even had better positioning which would’ve made things devastating. Heavy tanks can flank aswell as light tanks the problem is getting the jump on the faster moving vehicles before they can get a beat on you. I flank all the time in slower tanks (like the Waffenträger that NEED it since it has no armor). So not just heavies benefit from strategic positioning. The only issue is map inconsistency after that, and the map design gaijin is doing these days. It shouldn’t be a snipe fest 24/7, or urban fights 24/7 as it makes it terrible for only one side.

The event is nice, Sadly just shows what has been known for many years in this case. Fast tanks need more skilled users and also maps that have cover and foliage to hide in sadly the second part also depends on no low graphic abusers. Both devs and players fail. Slow tanks can absorb the mistakes and also keeps you from doing less too dangerous maneuvers that you cant get out of.

I'm more of an German TD player, but when I do play light tanks that has spotting capabilities, all I do is spot and run, especially if the location I'm using to spot are better to be used by sniper tanks

I'm more of a gundam battle operations 2 player but I do play warthunder on the side still low br though. But yes. Without a lot of armor you have to think faster. Shoot and relocate in an effort to keep yourself safe. So I do agree with that assessment.

@@ThunderWithMuffin Alright, so heres why the Scavenger is better than the Spike. Believe it or not, the Scavenger is actually an Amx Elc Bis in a disguised test vehicle form, and not only was it a test vehicle for the Amx Elc Bis but it was the test form of what the Elc would be if they made it like it is on PC. To prove that, take a look at the tanks origin. The Scavenger was added to blitz 4 to 5 years ago during halloween during an event where the main reward was the Gravedigger which happened to be the very first time the Mad Games mode was added to blitz. The Scavenger was the very first tier V, new and old players could get for free simply by playing the new game mode and winning 50 matches. As it stands the now the Scavenger is also the #1 most unique collecotr vehicle currently in the game IMO. The reasons for that is because of the Unique design concept of the tank, from the chassis to its turret. Though the Scavenger appears to look nothing like the Amx Elc Bis. If you look it over closely you'll start to see some similarities in the shape of the chassis and the proportions of the two tanks. The other things that makes the Scavenger Unique is that it is currently the only collector vehicle in the game that gives players the option to choose between 2 different guns. Not so coincidentally, those two guns happen to be a 75mm and a 90mm. Additionally the 90mm gun is the only one of its kind in the game as it was labled a 90mm howitzer. The Scavenger is also the only medium tank at tier V to use a 90mm gun. Now heres where things start to get interesting. The Scavenger was shown in a teaser video before it was added to blitz, moving as fast as the Amx Elc Bis, and manuvering nearly identical to the Elc. That video however has long since been deleted by WG. The Amx Elc Bis has both a 75mm gun and a 90mm gun on PC; with the 90mm gun the turret traverse is locked and not capable of turning a full 360 degrees and with the 75mm gun it is capable of turning a full 360 degrees. The Scavenger has both the same guns as the Amx Elc Bis from PC, the Difference between the Scavenger and the Amx Elc Bis is that obviously the Scav looks like a fake tank but isn't, the size and proportions and the heighth and front of the chassis has been slightly altered to look different and then theres the Scav' 90mm gun and the fact the Scav is a medium tank not a light tank, at least thats what WG wanted to hide. The 90mm gun the Scav has; worse stats that are no where near identical to that of the Elc's on PC, however that's only because WG made a couple of last second changes to the Scav in order to hide what it really was because like I've said, the Scav was a test vehicle to see whether or not WG should update the Elc in Blitz to be more like the Elc in PC including its 90mm gun. However WG already teasted the tank and couldn't remove it when the decided to scrap and cancle the idea of ever making the Elc in blitz like it is in PC. So what does typical WG do? They change the Scav at the last second to make it slower, give it some slight redeeming qualities in giving it a little bit of armor and nerfing the 90mm gun before its entered into the game by using their usual logic, make it a howitzer to justify having the stats be so bad for the 90mm gun and then reclassifying it as a medium while players are nond the wiser because how're players supposed to know it was originally a light tank besides the obvious trait shown in the teaser video WG released prior to the Scavs entry, and then the videos deletion after the tank was add so that people would keep coming back to that video to make conclusions. Finally to cement that the Scav is an Amx elc bis from PC or at least thats what it's supposed to be; if you recall, the Gravedigger had its own unique gun named "Nail Gun" which was pretty obviously a 57mm autoloading gun which is only found on one other tank in the game both on blitz and PC; the Amx 13 57. In total with the 3 guns between the Graveddigger abd the Scavenger, you have 3 guns all taken from 2 french light tanks. So to answer the question as to why the Scavenger is better than the Spike, it's because the Scavenger is a beast in disguise and holds most advantages that the PC version of the Elc would have if it were on blitz.

I guess don’t know how you got killed is worse than that STRV’s shot on tiger 2. For instance: playing a M56 in an urban map the enemy disabled my tank but I could retreat at a safe spot. Then he called in arty over my location and killed me. Watching the replay, it hit the ground about 5m from my location and a spark hit one of my crew and I got killed. I said: what? How? I had 2 more crew. But that spark hit one of my crew and then my tank was destroyed.
