Fast Trains at Biggleswade, ECML | 04/02/16

This video is property of Train_PlaneHub, "RachaelMatt"
1080p HD!
I was long overdue a trip somewhere on the East Coast Mainline to a small station to film the fast services pass through, so thought I'd try a new station for me which was Biggleswade. To the North it's on a long straight section so you can get great shots of approaching trains and to the South a steady sweeping bend which is also pretty good because they glisten in the winters sun. Some incredible speed displayed in this video, every passing train must be doing full line speed 125mph or very close to it lets say!
*I have also included the services which stop, so there are some shots of Great Northern 365's, 321's & 317's arriving and departing too.
INCLUDES: Virgin East Coast HST's & 225's, Hull Trains 180, Grand Central 180's & HST and out of the blue a Cross Country HST! + A Virgin service operating with two East Midlands Trains powers with the VP-185 engines screaming. The Cross Country set was a complete surprise, had no idea it was around until it came hammering through. I can only assume it was on hire to Virgin for the short term.
A great station for filming, brilliant vantage points and some impressive passing speeds!
A word of warning the station staff were extremely rude. I'd been filming for over 2 hours when a member of staff appeared out of nowhere and told me I needed permission from Network Rail to film and I should have signed in before I started. I didn't even realise Biggleswade was a staffed station if I'm honest, but the staff that do work there are extremely rude so be prepared.
Thanks for watching!

A lot of history there - Virgin has gone, the HSTs have gone, 700 units have more or less ousted the other local services units you see here - Azumas now appear but the class 91s still have a foothold - just...

Actually, no - that's a public footpath crossing - there's three of these on that stretch within a few hundred yards of each other.

If it's a station I'm not sure about I will always just check first. But thanks for the heads up on the rudeness of Govia Great Northern.

I'm argentine. the origin of our railways is British. However, ours had the impairment due to the corruption of the rulers, who are far from flawless as British Rail. I hope the new Argentine government gives to the railway priority that should never lose. I congratulate you very good images.

+Thomas Norton I will bare that in mind! No where on ANY station have I yet seen a sign saying that photography and videoing is not allowed. Nowhere. They treat train stations like they're a high security area. I'm thinking "Hmm Biggleswade..." seems legit. Middle of nowhere and population of just 15,000. Clearly I'm an intruder with my tripod and camera.

@NUK3 Kevin the cube paint scheme basically. Livery is a nicer way of saying it, and usually implies there's some pattern or text, rather than just one plain colour.

A very good film Matt, they sure do come through at speed, as for the jobs worths, Well always have your photography guidelines with you, and you should ask for permission from the station manager to film. Plus sign a form. I have had to do that. THANK YOU

Between 7:38-7:42 this person is standing near the slow lines and walks across the rest of the train tracks after a 91 is speeding and a 321 arriving. I believe this person could be trespassing.

Don't believe the member of staff, he's just a silly little jobsworth assuming that people wouldn't know that he was giving them bullsh!t. Of course, I suppose a company as badly managed as Great Northern wouldn't be concerned in the slightest about public goodwill, so i suppose he figures he can get away with it.
