    As an ex-lawn management company owner my recommendation would have been a double cut with the finish mower and triple cut on the grass where you had not mowed with the brush hog. We would have considered this a “new season” yard and would have charged 2x to 3x regular cut prices. Your friend is getting a great deal!

    I’m not sure, honestly. This was ‘free’ for a friend. However, I would likely think in terms of hours and what equipment is used. Likely $500 or more per mowing to make any money.

    @@markpaas I would have to walk the field but my SWAG price would have started at $500/cut. These types of jobs are not desirable because it takes to much time. You reach a point of diminishing returns where it is more profitable to cut small yards when clients are grouped together than a couple of big cuts like this which in my case would have been commercial accounts. I just gave a high estimate last summer to a client when I thought about starting up again. Thankfully they passed. I could have had the boys do 20 yards in a day and made $1300 instead of the $450 I quoted. Dodged a bullet on that one!

    I mowed out an old neglected hay field down the road from our farm for a realtor that was trying to market it as a farm which it was for many years until the owners got sick and eventually passed. I mowed it 3 weeks in a row with my batwing and then the fourth time with my finish mower. it looked really good. it was weekly mowings with the finish until sold and the new owners loved it. it was nice to see it return to a farm the new owners put some 4h calves and sheep on it after they built a fence.

Interesting that the very fast blades did not do better for tough weeds. I also thought that dried grass would disappear. Really appreciate what you do. I also admire some of you skills. Looks like it'd be too much mower for my 1025R so I'll have to keep putting on the miles with my Zero Turn on 4+ acres. Mowing the 1/3 rule, I bet it'd be awesome cut quality for large lawns.

I'm afraid the 2038R will have quite a load with it. This time of year (late summer), when the grass is less thick, there will be no issue.

    You seem really comfortable on the 3046R. I'm considering upgrading my Kubota B2650 to a L3902. I love the 2650 for its capabilities as well as its nimbleness. I believe the L3902 will offer more capability with slightly less nimbleness. What I am looking for is more tractor heft (weight, hp & strength). Really like the L3560 features but the tractor is too big for what I want nor do I find the seating position very comfortable.

I thought that keeping the tractor as light as possible may help with the cut quality behind the tractor tracks but you don’t seem too have any issues with it? A lot of my 15 acres is also uneven so the rim guard would help the ride quality too

    It would be interesting to see a mulching kit on a mower like that... closed deck with mulching blades. It might need some additional baffles inside to increase the vacuum lifting affect... Maybe a "MowerX" in the future? 😉

  • @jdfleetguy28

    @jdfleetguy28

    2 жыл бұрын

    I have a 17ft version of a very similar woods/frontier version. I had to go through a woods dealer to get my mulch kit or I should say the baffles. I got the mulch blades frame my dear dealer. The mulch blades alone were horrible , had to add the baffle/block off kit to make it work properly. I did cure my clippings issues and I do have a very nice cut quality. The only down side I seen, has been that I think I have still lost some lift. My tractor is heavy and since adding the complete mulch kit this season. I now have issues where the tractor ties press down the grass , and the mulch blades just simply don’t generate the lift the original blades had and it leaves a bit of a high spot wherever the tractor tires pressed it down. I solve that by over lapping to the cover one of tire tracks a second time. At 17ft wide it only adds 20 - 30 min to my mowing time. Where before with stock Oem blades and rear discharge same as Tim’s, I would typically have to mow it then mow it again crossing it up, just to dissipate the clippings. Which to do that took an extra 1.5 hours to mow it twice. By far the much kit has been a big plus, I think I just need to try some different blades with more lift. I think I may put my original blades on in combination with mulching baffle kits and see how that works together.

  • @TractorTimewithTim

    @TractorTimewithTim

  • @jdfleetguy28

    @jdfleetguy28

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@TractorTimewithTim Yea, mine had better lift without the much kit, however it would leave a mess of clippings and I would end up mowing twice to disburse all the clippings at least somewhat. I do prefer the cleaner mulch kit cutting as far as very minimal clippings. Now I find I am missing the lift I use to have for more even cut even where the tractor tires mashed down the grass ahead of the mower. I think I may leave the mulch shrouds on and put the old original blades back on.

    I don’t think it would work well in heavy grass…it pulled the 3046r pretty hard in the early spring. Did you see that episode? It would work fine in late summer grass. I would consider stepping up to L4701 or L4060.

    Before you mentioned that a dealer brought your TBW mower out as a demo. I've been trying to do the same, get a demo to see if it will work for me on a property that has side hills. I believe we live close to each other so I was curious which dealer brought it out as a demo for you.

    Hey Tim, I've got 3 acres of lawn. Formerly a hay field. Had some low spots that I've installed field tile over the last 35 years. The property drains nicely but with all of the work I've done here over the many years it sure is awfully rough. Any good way to smooth it out? I have only a 1023.

People ask what's the secret to staying married? I just say I'm not making that mistake again as she rolls her eyes. The not so secret tip is pray that God will send you the person you should be with and He will. She was doing the same thing but I still think God liked me best !
