@@Xbot4Life my advice bro ease into it... start off with just a few walks.. per day at least 30 minutes.. listen to music and focus on what’s going on in your life use it to inspire you to just keep going.. you should also use a “Calorie Calculator” online so it shows you how many calories you should eat a day.. so you can lose weight in a healthy way.. don’t starve yourself ! That is terrible for you.. just make a lifestyle change don’t even call it a diet.. cause half of the foods i used to eat like “Cheetos, candy, popcorn etc” has healthy substitutes.. like “baked Cheetos, Smart Sweets, Skinny pop” are some good snacks.. just watch what your eating make sure it has low or no cholesterol.. and low sodium.. I noticed those made my blood pressure spike up.. just know your going to be okay.. nothing going to happen to you.. make that lifestyle change and wow people with it.. for some more inspiration back in October 2020 I was 222 and now I’m 189.. and Im hoping to be 170 by the end of July.. my blood pressure is always perfect or barley high or barley too low.. and Im sure u can have a killer three month transformation you can hit me up on Instagram @Omarisburner and I’ll show u some healthy snacks as well as some influencers on tiktok i watch that help show healthy foods

@@sway2877 yes, back in 2018 I had my first anxiety attack which at that point of time I didn't know it was anxiety(and not knowing caused even more anxiety) . The symptoms were so severe that I landed up in hospitals 9 times. Finally, after a lot of check ups I was given anxiety medication which I currently take. Within a few months my symptoms started to diminish. Now a days, I do get flare ups sometimes but it's never as extreme as it used to be. Also, today I can easily identify if my symptoms are anxiety or not(which is extremely helpful in anxiety management). Just an update, today in the morning after I woke up my heart rate was 61. Right now it's in 70s. I am feeling quite calm, relaxed and happy today.

I was told about 5 years ago when I asked one of the GPS that no, I wouldn’t have it because it’s so rare he said! Finally after an a & e visit after blacking out again, the second time that week, the dr listened & referred me for tests. I have pots, like I told my gp. Same with EDS, told many years ago as it was then bjhs, the professor I saw in Leeds refused to believe it had any correlation with Ed’s. When he retired the other experts could finally get things going without him sticking his old fashioned nose in. The rheumatologist I’m supposed to see was trained by him…absolutely pointless seeing her. All I get is her 70 something year old ballet teacher/dancer sister who is hyper mobile! Yeah, absolutely nothing to do with me & it’s acquired HM, not genetics. She does the usual old fashioned nonsense. She once said I had put on something like 4 Kg since the year before, I asked what her point was 😂 she said I shouldn’t eat chocolate…I have a dairy allergy, cakes & biscuits…I can’t stand those either and I’m allergic to gluten & eggs in them…. Just before I went in she’d been horrible to one of the new nurses, I did trade Union work and I can’t stand that 😤 Hence my sharpness with her! As I left I did say you should always be kind equally, you never know when you might need the little people. As the door was slightly open the nurses outside heard & were laughing 😂 I did have a quiet word with the nurse too. People like her can really hurt a person especially if they’re young or new and I’ve worked with some horrible people

I'm 19 right now, female, I've been noticing this since part way through secondary school (ages 12-16). Standing up makes my heart pulsate really hard, my veins deep in my throat and neck hurt because it feels like they'll burst from the pressure and I get lightheaded and out of breath, never fainted, but have certainly felt quite faint on several occasions. I have also noted quite a bit of joint pain too, in the hip/leg joints, knees and shoulders. I've tried telling my mother about this but she thinks it's a: anxiety, I'm not diagnosed mentally with anything though I won't deny I probably do need mental aid, life's been tough, I won't lie, but honestly I'm not anxious before this happens, this makes me anxious (which is completely reasonable, these symptoms aren't exactly subtle). Wrong way round so I rule this one out. Or b: I'm being a hypercondriact (sorry if I miss spelt that) and I'm looking too much into it, as much as, yes, I have been a bit neurotic over my health before, this is a very good reason to be, therefore I refuse that label since this isn't something a healthy person would be dealing with as often and as noticeably as I do. Also I suffer with asthma so these 'attacks' (not sure what to call them) these moments of very high blood pressure, (eehhh better) sometimes combine with that and make it so I'm sitting down on the ground (because standing any longer is hard and I genuinely do not want to risk falling over) breathing rather heavy from simple tasks, like, standing up or going up a staircase, etc. I'm not the only person to notice this however, many people, including close friends have noticed I get more tired than I should do from simple tasks, also a friend just reminded me right now actually that she's seen me sometimes I'm clutching the side of my neck, after running, usually that's because my shoulder (more specifically one of the veins there) really hurt due to what I can only assume is blood pressure. This POTS sounds very familiar, but I can't be certain, I'm so lost on what is wrong, because whenever I go to see someone about it, usually they just say I'm exaggerating over nothing and that I'm young and should be rather healthy, that I'm just being a hypercondriact and I really don't know what to do at this point to get someone to see that I'm really not feeling alright at all. I *can* live with it, but it's starting to concern me with the frequency and strength. That and it does genuinely hurt and make me dizzy.

  • @Sharon3rd

    @Sharon3rd

The best option I believe would be to go to your regular doctor and ask for a “tilt table test” for your blood pressure. It’s a simple test and doesn’t require a tilting table: First your bp is taken while laying down, then sitting and lastly standing. If your bp drops suddenly during the test- (mine dropped 40 points: top number) then your dr can have the “proof” that something is wrong and go from there. I’m very sorry you’re going through this. I’m 57 and have had it for 20 years now. Another testing measure if you want to do it yourself is to get a Fitbit or Apple Watch/ iPhone. I’m testing myself 24/7 with the help of an app called Welltory. My resting rate is 67 now, with a walking average of 110. It’s frustrating to start pouring sweat while simply going in a store. The best treatment I get is from an IV with regular fluids. It’s being used as an actual treatment with some cardiologists who prescribe them once a week. Having a salty snack can stop those symptoms from happening SOMETIMES. I have - complex situation, such as yours which was diagnosed as dysautonomia. Maybe looking it up will help.😊

Figured out on my own it's not just blood pressure, something with my asthma seems to be tying in with it, separate but sometimes overlapping. Wrote up a symptoms list to make things easier. It's just hard to book an appointment for this because at my GP you're only allowed to book for one specific thing at a time and it's frustrating to try and work through this list of symptoms separately when they all tie in together and effect/are caused by each other.

Wrote up a proper symptoms list for when I do go see the doc. This is more focused on the struggle with breathing then the blood pressure, but they happen around the same time a lot and make each other worse. Symptoms: Tightness in ribs, feels like being crushed, feels exhausting and burning, like when you run a marathon and your muscles burn with lactic acid. Breathlessness and lightheadedness, overall fatigue, slumping, lack of energy, purely focused on breathing cus I feel like I'm slowly suffocating, not getting enough air. Lower jaw and tongue feels numb and puffy. Sometimes a racing heartbeat. Or if normal, maybe just beating incredibly hard. Concerningly hard. Sometimes can feel it deep in throat, can also restrict breathing and it hurts. Not just tight around ribs tho, throat muscles too, reaching up to the jaw before it starts to feel numb and puffy. It is not panic. Nor hyperventilation. I'm breathing normal, just harder cus I need more air because I'm not getting enough. I don't feel panicked or scared prior to symptoms, it's a gradual thing or a sudden thing and by the time I notice it, it's already in full swing. Very slight shakiness and twitching, like I'm fighting to get my muscles to move and my movements are very very slightly jerky as a result. Tiredness, just want to slump over into a lump and breathe. Can't keep eyes open. Too much energy. Even breathing is too much energy, but I have to push to do it cus if I don't I feel I may pass out or die or get permanently effected by lack of oxygen. I won't, but it's just 'effort' to breathe when there wasn't much before. Upper body feels particularly limp. Have to put more effort in to move about. Also sometimes feel sensations like (swelling?) You know the feeling you get when you suffocate/hold your breath too long and it feels like your eyes are gonna pop out of your head? That feeling, not just in the face region can sometimes feel that in my feet too? Feels like my veins in my face are gonna burst open. Hurts. Sometimes not always I also get symptoms of heartburn? When these things happen. I get an uncomfortable, not painful, feeling of something poking me between the ribs, itchy but not itchy, makes me want to roll my rib/stomach/skin to make it go away. I also struggle to think and respond to people talking-to to me, brain fog probably. I also notice that I yawn non-stop during an onset of symptoms. -----x----- When does it happen and how? In a hot bath, working, walking into kitchens at work, standing up, randomly can build up even when resting. I can be feeling great and it'll gradually build up, takes me a while to notice it, by the time I recognize it's starting and progressing, it's already nearing full swing or in it. -----x----- How long does it last? Usually anywhere from 1 or 2 hours to potentially maybe even 3, 4, or 5. It can knock me out for the better part of the day, sometimes I don't necessarily pop back up all fine after, sometimes the fatigue stays. Sometimes it can last the whole day, just the symptoms are a little bit less than a shorter attack. -----x----- Can I do anything to make it better? Not really. Just sit there, struggle for air, completely exhausted, till it clears up and everything gradually recedes. I've found that pressing on my ribs can give temporary relief for the crushing/burning/exhausting sensation on the area I'm pressing on.

Due to your issues being caused by going from seated to standing, that's proof it is absolutely not anxiety! Instead of anxiety medications; the doctor should have tried you on a POTS medication like Atenolol, Propranolol, Clonidine, or Guanfacine. Interestingly enough, those four medications can be prescribed off-label to treat anxiety. They attenuate the body's "fight or flight" response.

Sometimes when I exercise or do something suddenly I'll get this. The first time I got this I was 26 after giving birth to my third child. I thought OMG this is it I'm going to die while my 2 month old baby watches. I quickly drank some water which short of helped and then laid down as soon as I did it went away. Phewwww since then I had it a few more times. It's really scary

Hello Rajarshi, palpitations can very well be linked to anxiety, however, if what you have been prescribed is not working and if you have any other symptoms, like dizziness and a general feeling of being unwell, we recommend that you tell your doctor about these symptoms or consult with a cardiologist like Professor Lobo.

What gastric problem do you have? Gastroparesis is often associated with POTS. If POTS and gastroparesis or chronic constipation are both present, doctors will often prescribe the vagus stimulating medication Pyridostigmine to treat both.

@@TopDoctorsUK Thank you for responding, much appreciated 👍💕. I completely understand why the caution, I'm in Canada, btw, so it's a different jurisdiction, altogether. I was at my wit's end and the labile BP and weak rhythm tachycardia of up to 135 resting heart rate was unbearable.and scary, it has me worried. I've had these recurring cardiac symptoms for longer than one should let it go. I guess I was a bit cavalier and thought it would go away eventually. I'm assuming it might be metabolic in nature, akin to an endocrine tug of war interplay between adrenal/thyroid where it has now been affecting the heart rhythm and throwing off electrolyte balance, and possibly affecting the hormonal function of the pancreas as well. As a result, my doctor put me on metoprolol in Sept 2019, then bisoprolol by a cardiologist in January 2020 and now back on metoprolol. Amlodipine was added about a three weeks ago. The beta blockers were working quite well, even ridding me of the migraines and body aches I've had most of my adult life. But after about a few months of taking these beta blockers, i began to feel very tired, with a onset of dyspnea, fluttering bradycardia and vascular spasm on my left side, across the scapula, down left arm and jaw, causing a burning and pressure extreme pain. Due to this, I was to wean off the beta blocker, but continue the calcium channel blocker. The day I posted this, I was severely symptomatic. This time, tachycardia was quite severe with excessive sweating and tremors. So, on a desperate hunch, I took about 80mg of magnesium increasing it to an additional 50mg 3 hours later, depending on tolerance. I added a capsule of 150mcg of K2. I was tempted to eat a banana, but I thought to not push it. The mag seemed to help, but after a fitful night's sleep, the symptoms came back. So now I'm back on the metoprolol, half a tablet, followed by the Amlodipine. I've had a few episodes on and off today, but so far so good. I'm crossing my fingers that this is an effective fix, even if temporary, until I get in to get my CBC and yet another echocardiogram done. I'm hoping my heart and breathing remain stable and pain is gone forever. Thank you for listening.

L L Definirely look into the connection between the nerves in your mid-back (thoracic spine) between the shoulder blades. Do you have any pain there? Have you had any car accidents or back trauma? The T1-T-4 spinal nerves and nerve roots can become irritated or squeezed, affecting the rate and rhythm of the heart. My advice would be to find a good chiropractic as it may be a mechanical issue of the spine as opposed to a heart issue. I had to live with this for years before finding that out. It’s very unsuspecting that a heart issue could really be a back issue but that’s human physiology..

Has your problem been resolved? Hiatal and inguinal hernias can cause your symptoms. Also chest tears. The heart will beat faster when the connectivity of these nerve tissues are disrupted. The hernia would need repair then medication such as Gabapentin can help with it if that’s the case. Another sneaky cause is sleep apnea which can cause those symptoms as well. Cardiologists will often overlook the problem if they can’t find calcifications or blockages. If they do anything they will typically prescribe blood pressure medicine like beta blockers, when in actuality it’s your blood cells not being properly oxygenated during sleep due to sleep apnea. The lack of oxygen causes your heart to work harder when you wake up and throughout the day. In this case a sleep study would be needed. Cpap and dental fixtures can help resolve sleep apnea.

POTS doesn't show up on blood tests. You'd need a tilt table test. The other comments hinted at one of the 13 types of Ehlers Danlos syndrome, which is a possibility. Also hinted at was damage to the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve stimulating medication Pyridostigmine is sometimes prescribed to treat POTS and muscle weakness.

I absolutely love how when you have a blockage in your heart because you're old and you're 60 70s or older these doctors especially cardiologists look at you and tell you every single one of them do it it's anxiety no you idiot doctors if you walking in the store or in your yard and your heart rate is 170 and you're just merely walking or standing you break out in a sweat you throw up standing up your legs feel like they're going to come out from under you but guess what idiot you sit down in the heart rate goes down the sweating stops it all stops I really think that is the person's heart if you want to make the big money that you make why don't you treat the patient you're not a psychiatrist by the way human beings have physical ailments or is that why you went to school to help people with physical ailments or just take the money and run you make me sick

Interestingly enough, the Myasthenia Gravis medication Pyridostigmine has been repurposed by dysautonomia researchers to treat POTS. It's an amazing POTS medication, and also treats gastroparesis and chronic constipation.

Hello Geo, POTS isn't something alone that can kill you but it does affect your quality of life, cause dizziness and nausea and symptoms like those mentioned in the video. It's best to see a doctor who can help and treat the condition, the sooner the better. Thanks for your comment.

I can relate to that. My doctor put me on either nightly Guanfacine or Clonidine to help with that. This type of medication signals the body not to dump so much adrenaline and norepinephrine into circulation, which in turn calms the "fight or flight" panic and anxiety response by reducing its fuel. Either of these two medications are often prescribed off-label to treat POTS, anxiety, and insomnia. My teenage daughter had the same issues, and did well on either of these as well.

My heart rate is usually around 80. However when I stand up it’s about 110-120 and then settles down to resting heart rate after a couple of minutes. Should I consult a doctor

What kind of pills? Abruptly stopping certain medications instead of gradually reducing the dose and coming off of them can cause this as part of the withdrawal symptoms.

Dear Srijoni Nath, thank you for your comment. With cardiac symptoms or when your heart beats fast, it is best to have it checked by a doctor. Encourage your mother to visit her healthcare provider or go with her to an appointment. If you are in the UK and would like to make an appointment with the doctor featured in this video for your mother, you can visit his profile at www.topdoctors.co.uk/doctor/melvin-lobo. If not, we hope she pays a visit to her doctor soon to get her symptoms checked out.

I got pots after COVID and I'm on metropolol My heart rate only really went up from a laying to standing position when I get out of bed. Jumping out of bed and it starts booming in just a few seconds. From 65-70 to over 120 bpm in under 30 seconds. The metropolol doesn't let my heart rate get up much so it makes it hard for me to work hard or exercise. Is there anything else that can help so I can get off this beta blocker? Something natural would be great. I'm a 51 year old man and working full time, but it's hard. My Dr doesn't know much about pots, I need help and advice.
