FAST ENGLISH - the 'for' reduction: The #1 Secret You Need for Speaking English Fast

Do you want to speak fast English? Is speaking fast part of your English study routine? Are you curious about how to speak fast and be understood? Great! In this video I’ll show you how reductions work in spoken English and why they’re the key for you to speak fast. I’ve broken down lots of sentences for you with a common English reduction: the word “for”. If you master these English sentences you’ll be speaking faster and you’ll immediately be sounding more like a native English speaker. As you learn how to speak fast English you’ll see how reductions like the word “for” are critical to you sounding more smooth and confident. Speaking English with reductions will probably sound unnatural for you at first. That’s OK! I can help! I’ve spent years helping people learn how to sound more natural speaking English and I know some ways to help you. In my English speaking lessons you’ll learn the keys to fast English and learn how Americans use English on a daily basis. As you know, English in written form is quite different from English in spoken form. I’ll help you observe and implement the skills you’ll need to become not just fluent in reading English but also in speaking English. Your conversations with native speakers can really improve and your conversational confidence can make a big jump. As with any language, the beauty of speaking English is to truly communicate with others. As you learn to speak English fast I hope you’ll have richer and fuller conversations with friends and loved ones and enjoy the feeling of increased confidence in every aspect of your life. That’s my hope for you with this video! Let’s get started on our work together.

What I benefited the most from these exercises were matching the exact movements and rhythms! I was so surprised (and delighted) that some of the sentences I thought I knew how to pronounce, but was able to improve and correct myself the very small details through watching the movements! My ears alone didn't pick them up before, that was quite a revelation! 🙂👍😘

Hi Rachel!! Another great video!! You are the best teacher for pronunciation!! I did an exersice: while you said the phrase I just listened and wrote what I understood and I discovered that I understand you much better when you speak at normal speed than when you say it in slow motion. I understood and wrote almost all of the sentences, I just missed some words. The only sentence that definitely I didn't understand was "he was arrested for arson" the only 2 words that I understood was 'he' and 'for' probably because 'arson' is a new word for me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Keep it up and stay safe!!

To learn English , you should only do one thing . You should practice. Yeeeh practice it try to go back in time and imagine yourself as a baby. How could you learn your mother language? By listening, right! Listening and trying to speak. Try and make mistakes .it's fine, But in the end i promise you. You will do it.

But how long does it take a baby to be fluent in its language? As adults we have many tools to make that process much faster. The internet exists for a reason; but you have a point.

Thank you for making this video. These types of videos are exactly what I need:) I realised recently that I cant speak very clearly when speak fast. So I'm trying to get better at that. I wondered if this rule only applies under the circumstance where there's word after 'for'? If I say, "What is it for?". Then I'll have to do the full pronunciation, is that correct? Thanks again!

  • @rachelsenglish

Hi! Yes, most of the time native speakers will fully pronounce the word 'for' if it is at the end of a phrase.
