Например: "Sorry, what?" не означает, что вы не слышали, а означает, что вы слышали, но вам кажется, что то, что говорит человек, звучит немного безумно или невероятно! Посмотрите еще раз на примеры из кино и телевидения - эти актеры выражают изумление, а не непонимание. 'Sorry, what?' может считаться очень невежливым! Также "What did you say?" совсем не вежливо, и часто это вызов! Это может привести к тому, что вы получите удар в лицо! Потому что "What did you say?" не означает "Я тебя не слышал", а означает "Я тебя слышал, но что, черт возьми, ты говоришь?!". Опять же, просто посмотрите на КАЖДЫЙ пример из фильма с 1:09 - обратите внимание на их лица и высокие голоса - эти лица говорят: "Что, черт возьми, ты имеешь в виду?!!!". Вы бы сказали "Что ты сказал?", если бы услышали, как кто-то в ресторане шепчет оскорбление в адрес вашей девушки, например! Этой учительнице РЕАЛЬНО нужно объяснить людям реальное значение этих выражений в реальной жизни - очень неправильно предполагать, что все они означают просто "Извините, я вас не расслышал". Если люди поверят ей и будут использовать эти примеры, они могут сильно обидеться. Пожалуйста, извините за этот плохой перевод - я носитель английского языка. Надеюсь, я помог вам понять истину этих английских выражений. Удачи вам в изучении английского языка, мой друг.

Alguns destes exemplos são perigosos. Por exemplo: "Sorry, what?" não significa que não tenha ouvido, mas que tenha ouvido, mas pensa que o que a pessoa está a dizer parece um pouco louco ou inacreditável. Veja novamente os exemplos do cinema e da televisão: estes actores exprimem espanto, não incompreensão. "Sorry, what?" pode ser considerado muito indelicado. Também "What did you say?" não é nada educado, e é muitas vezes um desafio. Pode-se levar um murro na cara! Porque "What did you say?" não significa "não te ouvi", significa "ouvi-te, mas que raio estás a dizer?". Diria 'What did you say?' se ouvisse alguém num restaurante sussurrar um insulto à sua namorada, por exemplo! Mais uma vez, olha para TODOS os exemplos do filme a partir do minuto 1:09: repare nos seus rostos e vozes agudas - esses rostos estão a dizer 'Que diabo queres dizer?!?!'. Esta professora precisa REALMENTE de explicar às pessoas o verdadeiro significado destas expressões - é muito enganador apenas sugerir que todas elas significam apenas 'Desculpa, não te ouvi'. Se as pessoas acreditarem nela e usarem estes exemplos, podem causar muitas ofensas. Por favor desculpem esta pobre tradução - sou uma falante nativa de inglês, mas já tive problemas nas férias há muitos anos e um maravilhoso homem brasileiro ajudou-me muito, por isso só queria retribuir a sua bondade ajudando-vos hoje.
